What watch do you wear?

Where would be a good place to browse for a nice watch, my wife has agreed to buy me a nice watch for my 40th next year so i want to do my research and get a decent watch for the best value i can, budget is up to £2k. I'd love a Franck Muller but they are way over budget, i also would like something that you don't see every day, so as much as i like Omega, i'd rather choose something else.

Slightly over budget http://watchfinder.co.uk/Franck Muller/Cintrée Curvex/2852 SC/25106/item/46388

But if you take a look at watchfinder.co.uk you can get a decent second hand watch if decide to go down that route.

Where can I get a Panerai lookalike from? I know someone was making some in germany that where quality but can't find them anymore.

Thanks

Check aliexpress, there's tons of them. Most of the time they are quite cheap, and if it's for a 'demo' before buying a real one, it's perfectly adequate. Some other site float around selling much more expensive copies ($300+) but I think these are for people who ARE fake :-) for $300 or so you can get a very nice real watch, like a Steiny (and many others!) anyway...

I bought a few copies from Ali.. quality varies a lot, but ultimately I got some automatic watches I use pretty often when doing stuff I wouldn't want to do with a nice watch. A couple of them are even surprisingly good (in fact one of my chinese is my most /precise/ auto, and that includes my Omegas and Longines!)

Yes, that -- I bough my Evidenza on watchfinder -- I think that's what could be considered 'unusual' as a watch. If you're a nerd, also look for that Accutron Spaceview; it's a lot less than your budget, but it's definitely very unusual...

I think I'm now also into the phase where I don't care that much for 'usual' shapes, and I'll go and hunt for more 'interesting' watches...

Nice choice, I have one too, although I swapped for the white face with my brother, too much abuse from purists who were banging on about the GV having no LEC. That and I actually preferred the white
