What watch do you wear?

20 minutes max after wiggling it about a bit. I'll see about getting a cheap strap to use for a day or two to see if it charges a bit better. If not ill have to send it back to get it looked at.

Cheers for that, a little fiddly :p

Yeah just a bit. I've only looked into a crap watch to 'test' how easy it would be to change over the battery but with the screws just over 1mm in length it'll be easy to see them propelled across the room! I have seen a few places on ebay though that deal with spare screws so if they do go flying you'll have a replacement bag full of them!

Never had any issues with Cheapest Nato Straps despite them shipping from Sweden. Always get them within a week and the quality is good.

Hi,

I'm looking for some suggestions for a new watch.

I've got my Seamaster 300M Pro Ceramic which I wear daily for work and at weekends. I'm looking for something a little cheaper that can be worn casually but also worn for activities where I would be too worried about the Omega.

I'm thinking...
  • Budget around £500
  • Sporty / Casual
  • Durable
  • Rubber or nylon strap rather than a bracelet
  • Quartz
  • Perhaps Chrono
  • No bigger than 42mm

I'd love to hear your ideas!

Thanks

A lot of Tags fit that requirement

Id have a look at the seiko solar chronograph divers range. Solar powered quartz, available in a few colour combinations. There are some that come on a rubber strap. All are well below £500.00. Got one here with the pepsi style bezel though its on a bracelet.

How about a junghans https://www.firstclasswatches.co.uk/junghans-mens-voyager-mega-mf-white-dial-leather-056251100-p-25223/

Thanks for the suggestions so far.

I have been looking at Tag Heur F1s and there are a couple that I'm quite keen on. Some of the Seiko Solar Chronographs look like they could fit the bill as well, some of them are too busy, similar to the Casio Edifice range, but the divers look ok.

Havent looked at Tissot I will have a look.

You'll have to make do with a SMPc Lume shot, every time I try to snap a pic of my Sea Dweller D-blue it comes out terrible. Although, I'm using a phone camera and it's 3am...

Phone cams never do lume shots justice tbh. The brightest and longest lasting lume ive seen is on seiko's. But again hard to capture.

Omega are announcing some new Planet Oceans in NYC on Monday night.

Speculation is that they will be special editions like the dark side speedys which are stunning but unfortunately recent limited editions have been over 10k USD.

This is the teaser on their site.

Omega announced the plannet ocean deep black GMT master chronometer over night.

http://www.omegawatches.com/watches/seamaster/planet-ocean-600m/deepblack/

Full ceramic with 600m water resistance.

A plain black model a gold model and blue and red options featuring the rubber bezel seen at Baselworld earlier this year.

The all black model is very nice but it's 45.5mm which won't suit a lot of people including myself.

Price is expected to be between 12-13k US.

It's an improvement over the planet oceans we've seen so far this year, but I still feel that they're loosing the plot.

12-13k can't be, thats over £9k. The dark side of moon speedy was only £5K

I like it but if its £9k, thats silly. I rather buy the new ceramic Daytona.

DSOTM £5k? i dont think so,

retail in ireland in euro on the DSOTM is €10k and €10.5k on the GSOTM

so assume UK for the DSOTM is circa £7.5k

I've never really seen the hype around most of the omega's, never looked appealing to me and something I certainly wouldn't drop 12-13k on. Saying that there's a large amount of expensive watches that are just a status symbol rather than actually looking good on your wrist.
