What watch do you wear?

Guys I am having a first-world dilemma... blue or black?

Black is more versatile and can be worn on any occasion with any clothing, but blue is also really my colour even if it is less practical...

Blue for me but i do agree with you about the black.

black, for the reasons you mention. I've got a blue speedmaster 57 and I do find it "wrong" sometimes

I'm voting black. My speedy (which is obviously black) goes with just about any straps and anything I wear. It's just more versatile than blue.

Thanks guys, as much as I like the blue, I think black it will be due to the versatility, dressiness, and I also find it more discreet. I already have a black Longones Hydroconquest but will definitely keep it as my "rough and ready" watch to take on holiday and for sports etc. :)

Precisiontime really have a great deal at £3000... £800 less than most other shops which certainly makes up for not being able to claim back VAT from them.

It's a shame this model doesn't have a crystal caseback, but to be honest when a watch is on your wrist how much do you notice that anyway. :)

So when I finally got that balls to go and buy a Submariner in Hulk I find the waiting list is 8-16 months!!

Does anyone know if there is a better way of getting these?

Need more info than that to be helpful.

  1. Automatic, manual or battery
  2. Case diameter
  3. Water resistance requirement
  4. Dressy, diver, sports?

[*]Automatic, manual or battery - I'm easy
[*]Case diameter - 40mm, don't want something too large
[*]Water resistance requirement - none
[*]Dressy, diver, sports? More dressy but able to where everyday

Well this has caught my eye but seems a tad pricey for a quartz? I'm a bit of a newb when it comes to watches though!

Quartz watches can reach into the thousands with the likes of Rolex, Omega, Breitling etc.

Cheaper automatics can be quite unreliable, but then again, they can also be superb timekeepers, it's just the luck of the draw with some.

DO NOT SPEND £500 ON A WATCH.

Eaither get one at £50-£100 for an everday quartz for the masses or put £2k in and get a used Rolex Explorer 2 polar.

£500-1500 new watches are a total waste of money and should be avoided. At this budget you will be fooled into buying a crappy Tag Heurer quartz.

Really? So an automatic watch that's well regarded from the likes of Hamilton, Tissot or Longines (examples) are all crap watches where the buyer will be fooled out of their money? There are plenty of choices of quality automatic watches in that price bracket.
