What watch do you wear?

Do it - I have the black version and haven't regretted buying it three years ago. the 'wet look' dial looks awesome, as does the lume at night :)

Much love still for my SMP

Can someone explain the difference between these? Is one a Seamaster Diver 300 and the other just called a Seamaster 300?

Just started looking at watches and I'd really like an Seamaster for my 30th next August. Also considering second hand so trying to understand the different models and how often a new version is released etc.

What features?

500m, titanium self-adjusting bracelet, automatic helium escape valve, lume-injected bezel...

Along with titanium bezel rather than aluminium because titanium conducts sound better, and they tuned the clicks to sound like an old safe door. The click at 12 is also heavier in weight, so you know when you've gone full circle when turning it and not looking at it. It also has a matte ceramic insert with all markers lumed with injected superluminova rather than applied. Also, design elements that make out the shape of the Tudor shield on the clasp mechanism when it is open and closed.

But yes, as above, not everyone buys based on features, but more on what they like. My point was that for the money, there isn't another dive watch that offers all of these things in one watch. And that is what appeals about it to many, and is also why the appeal is growing for the original model now.

To me, the small details are what matter most. I like those details, and it just so happens I like the style just as much!

Guest2 has the correct (discontinued) version of the Seamaster. I don't like the gloss "submariner" style dial on the ceramic ones. Or the font on the bezel for that matter.

So many times I've thought about buying one, but I'd only wear it a few times a year. No way I'd be wearing it while using a hammer drill at work.

Really do not get this whole watch fashion thing.... Feel like I'm missing something!!

I bought a nice Mondaine as a daily watch after years of wearing a £40 Pulsar and it really is a nice thing... I love wearing it far more than I thought I would, and I can't stop looking at it and dusting the glass off... Weirdly I actually like wearing it more than the vintage Seamaster dress watch... :D

Some of these watches in here are beautiful... SDK's Omega might be my new favourite watch in this thread... That face!

It can't be everyone's thing though, if you flick through these pages and look at these pictures and they don't do anything for you, then thats fine, its probably not your thing. :)

I have my SevenFriday on today on rubber strap. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I like it.

Oh lord that's a pretty watch.

As for me, I just invested in my first watch ever - pretty excited. I dipped my toe in with something affordable...A Moto 360. Perhaps not as classy as some of the timepieces in here, but we'll see how it goes.

The Seamaster in Guests2's image is the discontinued pre 2012 model. The newer model has a co-axial movement for improved accuracy and longer service intervals, ceramic bezel vs aluminium, improved bezel numbers, a plain gloss laquered dial vs the wave dial and some other smaller tweaks.

Pre 2012, like mine is co-axial movement. Zoom in and it says co-axial. It was one of the reasons i bought it :)

A watch for me is not about fashion, sure, I think they look nice or wouldnt wear it but its its the engineering and work that goes into it. Watching the co-axial movement videos and the like blew my mind. Something that has that many tiny mechanical movements and can withstand 300m of pressure, knocks, heat, cold etc.

Master chronometer isn't available on the 300m - it is on the 600m models.

More can be read about it here on Omega's website.

And you are right the Co-Axial movement is on both new and used Seamaster 300m models. As far as I know they both use the same calibre 2500 movement.

Where is the best place to sell used watches? Nothing flash but I have some Steinharts that I am considering using to part fund the Omega. Ebay has been nothing but a headache for me and I don't quite have enough posts for members market here :(

The master co-axial movement features in the new 2016 watches.
Anti-magnetic and METAS certified.

It's also available on several non water proof models and the Seamaster 300 Master co-axial

I'm not fussed on that watch. Don't know what it is about it but it does nothing for me. Maybe it's the vintage look about it....

Your photos of the 300m SDK has made me start considering it...I was fairly set on a PO 43.5mm but not so sure if it's worth 50% extra!

Thoughts on the differences? I like the transparent case back of the PO and much prefer the lines vs the dots for the hour markers, along with the style of the bracelet but again, not sure it's worth that much...will try them both on in an Omega boutique soon though!

I'm a fan of the orange accenting on the watch to the left. I know that sounds silly, but I think it really sets it off.

Hi Guys

It seems the high st retailers are not really playing ball with discounting the Omega I want. Swisswatchesdirect I've seen recommended here any other online retailers?
I've bought both my Omegas from swisswatchesdirect with zero issues.

The Planet Ocean is worth the extra - you do get more watch.
I like the Seamaster 300m because it goes well with suits & shirts as an everyday work watch. The PO is bigger and thicker and is therefore more of a causal sports watch.

I've got a new orange PO 43mm Titanium 8900 with rubber strap ordered to wear outside of work. It's taking longer than expected to arrive though as availability is low.

If you think of it as 'fashion', then you are indeed missing something!

So what is it? Everyone has a phone (which are more accurate) so it's not to tell the time. I very much doubt everyone who spends big moolah on a hugely water resistant/shock are divers / extreme sports enthusiasts.
Status symbol if not fashion?
