what would GD do?

We have a similar setup and it's caught someone coming onto the driveway and try all the car doors at 3am. I don't always lock my car because I live in a safe area, but just goes to show you never know what creeps around at night.

4 pages in and I can't believe nobody has suggested to move house.

OP, I'd move house.

You can't be living next to people like that. I mean come on, who drinks fosters!

Could have been a joke by him knowing you're watching. I wouldn't give it two thoughts. If it had occured whilst going to open the door, then I'd have jokingly asked in an Australian accent "WHO YOU CALLIN ****KERRR M8888888".

Foster's drinkers and classy doorbells don't mix well imo.

There probably just jealous of such an advanced door bell.

The guy who fitted my nest showed me a guy going onto his property noticing the doorbell then walking away from the car.

There was no reason for him to go to the car or come onto his driveway and you clearly see him glance at the camera for a few seconds before walking away.
Staged sale pitch!

Well all’s well that ends well.

We bumped into him out the front tonight and asked him lightheartedly about it. Turns out he wasn’t making that sign at all. His brother had been plastering and had plaster all over his hands. When he pressed the button, he left a plaster mark on it, so he walked up and wiped it off with his sleeve in a motion that resembled the insulting sign. On review of the footage, I can clearly see that his brothers hands are caked in plaster, and he is indeed wiping it.

He said he actually had no problem with the camera and showed us on his phone that he and his wife liked the idea so much, they have ordered their own off amazon.

I really need to stop jumping to conclusions, I’ll end up getting my face kicked in one day.

You seriously think a burglar will avoid your property because you've got a camera on your doorbell?

Yes, burglars tend to case a street first, spot any house that may look vulnerable, have no visible security devices and then target it. If a house has a security device visible, in the slightest.. They wont bother.

However this is the general rule and there are exceptions, mainly when it comes to desperate druggies.

Ha brilliant! it's far too easy to assume the worst from one point of view. That would genuinely make a good fosters ad!

Btw best burglary deterrent is gravel, you can here you neighbours footsteps 5 doors down if they've got a gravel drive!

I've had a suspicion that things like internet video surveillance (including on stuff like baby monitors) is just another way to introduce anxiety to your life. Case in point here, really.

I can see the positives, probably does contribute a little to home security, but not sure I would actually feel any less stressed (or simply happier) by having it.
