What would happen if the US disappeared

Basically, the world would probably fall apart.

You may not like the US but the influence they have on the rest of the world is huge, not to mention other countries involvement IN the US.

Would seem mostly accurate - doubt the North and South Koreas would go to war tho, South has too much to offer remaining major powers and likely to get a new backer and even with the US gone it has decent modern military capabilities of its own whereas the North despite a larger army isn't as well equipped or trained and would struggle with the logistics of a major offensive outside its own borders.

I don't really see WWIII tho - our best hope is resurrecting and solidifying the old empire and Russia would be too busy in the interim aquiring former US assets around the world to want to go to war on a large scale. I suspect in the short term there would be an arms race with Africa coming off badly as its pillaged of resources by the remaining major powers to fuel this.

Asia is the key to a world without the US, so we'd probably see a Russian, Indian and Japanese power bloc facing off against a Chinese and Pakistani power bloc. The Middle East and Africa may be side theatres, but I doubt Europe would be heavily involved in the fighting. Our (Britain) role would be to safeguard the Aussies, Kiwis and Canadians with our deterrent.
 
There's a great series of books by John Birmingham (an Aussie) called "Without Warning" in which, just before the 2003 invasion of Iraq, 99% of America, some of Canada and Mexico is covered by a mysterious dome which vaporises all life within it with only Seattle surviving.

I think thats got probably the best idea about what would happen afterwards and it's not a pretty sight!

Not that surreal or hypothetical really!

An Eruption at Yellowstone could well eliminate the USA as a political and economic entity (And do a lot of damage worldwide)

And it could, more or less, happen any time!

You do know that a major eruption at Yellowstone(eruptions are going on all the time but minor ones hence the Geezers[I Know it's geyser's]) wouldn't just mean the end for the U.S. People but all the rest of us on the Planet the Earth itself would be perfectly fine though!
 

Beaches around the world would become a lot longer.

300 million people would suddenly be swimming

In major cities such as New York, there will be some survivors, by banding together the drowned corpses to use as rafts and subsistence.
