What would you buy with £4.5K?

Am after something sporty and have been looking at the following (a slightly diverse range I know):

Fiat Coupe 2.0 Turbo
Early PH2 172
206 Gti
Golf V5

I've been considering the 172 - I was curious to know if there's anything else to consider?
 
Vauxhall Chevette with uprated suspension, XE on R1 carbs, decent seats and good rubber.
And £2,000 or so in the bank.

Or a Nissan 200SX S14a
 
Hmm, sporty. I wouldn't class that 206 or the V5 Golf as sporting, really. Maybe I'm being harsh.

I'd buy a Corvette - but that's just me :D It'd be more reliable and infinitely more entertaining than any of those choices, anyway, and a lot less likely to plummet in value, if at all. Hehe!

What's with all the fairy-wheel drive choices, anyway :D ;)

I like Lopez's suggestion of the S14, maybe a well-thought through and excellent condition S13 too.

4.5K buys you an awful lot of cars though......hmm! I'll have to have more of a think :)

in that list, the 172.

but for 4.5k, id get a 2004 xsara VTS with like 30k on the clock for 3-3.5k and bank the rest. :p
