What would you do if you saw a USB stick in the street?

I live in a small town and we have a fairly active Facebook page, so I'd stick a post up on that to see if anyone claims it, after a while I'd then plug it in (taking precautions against the hackzorz, natch)

Or 5, if find a damaged one wombling, pick it and place in bag.

We had a USB stick handed in at lost property a few weeks ago. Temptation to see what was on it was high.

We thought no as we probably get the sack if upload contents on work computers it would crash the system

I miss Jackanory.

I miss Jackanory.

She also doesn't realise that any major company's USB ports will be locked down to only mice, keyboards & official USB sticks.
When I joined the NHS in 2008 you had to use their USB sticks which were £69 for 2gb :(
However the stupid bit was you could plug your phone in, access the drive and do what you liked, IT didn't know about this until 2 years ago and put a stop to that :)

option 4 in an old pc.... if there was any user identifiable info on it then i would return it, if not then format and reuse.
i have handed in jewery which looked potentially valuable to the local cop shop (it was probably costume jewellery but i am not skilled enough to know.

an old memory stick however is likley not worth wasting the police time over, but is too useful to let go to waste and i am not afraid of what would be on it to not put it in an old offline pc.

if it turned out to be someones bitcoin wallet then i would hand in to the pc as well as my contact details..... if it isnt recovered after a set time it is supposed to be given back to you, and if it is recovered i would hope if its a significant amount the owner may buy a beer as a thanks (its what i would do for somone else if they handed my stuff in)
