What would you do with a q6600?

'The Q6600 Boy!!' :D

As much as I would like to keep my Q6600 as a trophy and as a respect to legendary chip, I would be selling it as I upgraded to Q9650 which is a lovely chip itself.

Try selling it on ebay as you could get higher price for it :)

I passed my old PC with Q6600 overclocked to 3.6GHz, Asus P5Q Deluxe and 4GB Corsair DDR2 800MHz ram to my dad. I kept the case, and I sticked those parts into an old PC case I had lying around. Also considering i5 2500K cooler running than the Q6600 at 3.6GHz, I left the Silver Arrow cpu cooler with the Q6600 and got a mid-range cooler for my i5 2500K instead.

CPU dogtag huh? Sounds nice...but if thinking about it, that's like wearing a "I'm a geek" tag walking down the street XD

I kept mine and use it in my work's machine with a semi-decent GFX card so if there are quiet moments (few and far between unfortunately) I can pop D3 on for a bit of light gaming :)

I sold my Q6700 for £105 a couple of months ago. For a mere £45 more I got an i5 2500K. My entire old system including case, PSU, 2x GPUs, mobo, 2 hard drives, RAM, got me around £900 on ebay.

I'm glad I sold it all as I was initially going to bin it and just buy parts for a new system. Overall I only ended up paying a couple of hundred quid for a new setup.

Sell it, its still worth something. If selling on that well known auction site make sure to emphasize QUAD COAR! and you can add up the ghz of the 4 cores 2.4 * 4 = 9.6 so sell it as a 9.6GHZ CPU!!!111onene They dont know thats not how it works or that the CPU is from 2007 :p

But honestly, if I had a q6600 I wouldn't have upgraded yet... There's something about using a computer for a number of years that feels good. You learn all of its little quirks and how to get around them.

I could realistically still live with my c2d rig of I shoved a new gpu in it.
