What would you do?

You can't just move a dog.......Dogs and Horses are two animals where the Police must be called if they are run down....I doubt the Police would be too happy if some random bloke dragged it out of the way just because it was holding him up for a few minutes.

Oh yeah, sorry I forgot GD.....

You should have dragged the dog out of the way by it's tail.....if the owner even looked at you funny you punch 'em in face and ask them if they want to join their dog....

You then give them the number of a friendly Chinese Restaurant and ask them if they want to make a few bob to give them a call....

You can then, knowing that you have done your civic duty, continue on your journey safe in the knowledge that you are a stand-up guy.....

why would you wait in the car if you could see a dog blocking the road? i'd like to say some people but mostly everyone who drives past problems on a road do nothing about it.. ****s tbh..

i was driving on the A1 once and some bikes had fell off the back of someones car, the cue of trafic was massive, once we got to see what was blocking the road, i got out of the car and dragged the bikes to the side of the road.. wow, thousands of people had drove past these bikes..

another day, i was driving home and a little dog come running across a busy road, i picked him up, took him home and thankfully he had a tag on him with the owners number on it, i took a picture of him before the owners picked him up..

most people live in a bubble

Obviously it'd depend on circumstances - how injured is the dog? etc. - but I would have no problem at all with causing a queue to deal with the dog, or being in a queue caused by such an incident. Some things you just have to suck up.

The police must be informed if a dog is hit, if the animal leaves the scene then there is no duty of care to follow it, but you must inform the police.

If the dog leaves the scene then there is no reason to move it either.....

What the OP is saying that the dog is injured in the road, and because that is an inconvenience to him he, the owner or the person who hit the Dog should drag the dog out of the way, regardless of the injury to the dog or the feelings of the owner who was present, just so he can save a few minutes travel time, rather than wait for the Police and/or vet to arrive and move the dog safely.......

Personally it depends on the condition of the animal, if it is able to be moved safely then the best thing would be to cover it in a blanket and get it to the nearest vets asap....however if the dog is severely hurt, or if it looks like a spinal injury or the dog is extremely agitated and thus aggressive then wait until the Police arrive, they have trained personnel to deal with this....simply dragging it to the side of the road because some people think it is inconvenient is, in my opinion a pretty bad attitude to have.

It certainly is not down to someone who cannot be bothered to wait in queue for a few minutes to decide and the person who hit the dog must report the incident within 24 hours to the police, obviously if they are not required on scene at the time. (although the owner is responsible for the dog)
