What would you have done?

I work as Security in a shop. The other day (a very busy one i might add) we had a small group of kids enter (4 or 5), nothing out of the ordinary there. Untill there was this absolutly foul stench that filled the shop within seconds, the kids were joshin amongs themselves about how 1 of them had alledgedly farted. It was no fart, it stunk like rotten eggs mixed with sulphur. It. Was. A. Stink Bomb. I had a customer allready trying to get the kids out of the store, he was prepared to hit them . I had to keep my cool, so i headed over to the commotion and promtly barred the group of lads for life, there pictures are now on the wall of our staff office. The kids decided to get all mouthy with me asking why they were barred, they had done nout wrong. The customer i mentioned before saw them let the stink bomb off. A few hours later in the day 2 of the kids came back with there parents, they kicked off. I said that what there sons had done, was in fact an act of domestic terrorism. They promtly left and i never saw them there yesterday, and i dont really think i will see them again.

What would you have done in my possition?

Did i act accordingly?

Domestic terrorisim? Really? LOL :)

Apart from the melodrama, I think you dealt with it very well. It's always difficult when parents start getting involved.

I did this once as a kid (was about 11 and away on scout camp IIRC)- though it was actually the joke shop I bought them in rather than some random store.

Walked up to the counter, purchased the stinkbombs from the women, bent down to tie my laces and trod on all 3 at once......

Woman flips out, myself & my mate legged it round the corner with her yelling behind us. 2 mins later we sneak past on the other side of the street - the shop is shut and we can see an angry woman spraying air freshener everywhere.

At the time I couldn't see the problem - the woman was happy to sell the things and presumably have the prank played on other people yet it happens to her in her shop and she freaked.... was highly amusing at the time....

Though I can see that a group of teenage hoodies who hang around, give it loads of lip and then bring the parents back for another rant wouldn't be particularly pleasant to deal with.

funniest thing I've read all year :D

Re "terrorism" most people in this thread forget it has other uses than for what todays society has done to it's meaning. "These kids are terrorising me".

Albeit, it has a strong meaning, it's an applicable one. Domestic Terrorism isn't really the right phrase to use, but it works.

You did right, the smell lasts for bloody ages and it's disrespectful.

Terrorism is actually, usually political in intent.

Terrorising means to fill with terror, not acting terrorism.

But I agree, he did the right thing.

We had one left off in our science department many many years ago when I was in secondary school. They actually shut the wing down because the fumes can be harmful to certain people, ie asthma sufferers etc.

No idea if this is true or not but free periods beat double biology :)

Good one, their parents attitude says it all.

If they came in and got the kid to apologise then thats one thing - kids do do pranks. You could have forgive and forget. But them defending it shows they have no problem with what they done. And will only sanction such behaviour in the future.

I always got a clip round the ear when I got caught with such behaviour. Its how I learnt what was wrong (even if I did find such pranks funny as a kid).

Bit harsh to be honest.

When I was in school, we used to let off stink bombs on the tube, was very funny :p

Not harsh at all. Especially if you take into account the reaction of the parents. It really rather shows the type of people they were anyway.

Hopefully it'll be a lesson learnt - though I unfortunately doubt it. :/

Oh and so what if he said domestic terrorism, on the spur of the moment it's a great line, certainly for re-enforcing a point on the idiot parents.

I think you did well - and well done at keeping your cool.

Agreed entirely.
