What would you replace SLI 670's with for 4K

As above? What would be the minimum, would 2x 970s do it?

Although I am tired of SLI when it comes to H1Z1. Would a single card be capable? I dont play much anymore.

Mostly -

Killing Floor 2
H1Z1
Rocket League.

4gb vram isn't enough. Even 6gb isn't enough. It's playable, but 8gb or higher would be better.

Your telling me for 4K I need a £500 card that couldn't even use AA in games like H1Z1.

Christ!

You have to keep in mind that 4K is extremely demanding so you have to make sacrifices REGARDLESS of how much you spend. Secondly, H1Z1 is a mess in terms of optimization (but that also applies to MMOs in general unfortunately).

I'd recommend waiting for the next series of GPUs if you can be patient enough. No single GPU will give you a truly satisfactory 4K experience with graphics turned up at the moment, although the 980ti and Fury X do come close.

There is no one GPU that will run 4K well. That's what everyone is hoping for in pascal.

Not going to happen.

To run some of todays games at least 2 Big Pascal cards would be needed and with even more demanding games on the horizon 3 or more Pascal cards could be needed.

Even when Volta arrives a single card won't run 4K.

As GPUs become more powerful, games become more demanding.

I wouldn't be so sure, a full fat Polaris/Pascal could have over double the performance of Fiji/Maxwell. Remember these are new architectures - if they simply took the current gen onto a lower node, you'd be seeing a massive performance increase. Add a new architecture and we could be looking at a 120-150% performance increase per card.

This^

This coming next gen should shoot up performance for single card uses then whatever Maxwell did.

Kf2 rocket league both run at 60 with 980s league runs on one 980 fine maxes not tested kf2

I would say minmium of 980s but you be better off with 1* 980ti

It is not enough.

For a single GPU to run all current games you need something 4x as fast as a TitanX, this would mean it needs to pack something like 32 billion transistors which is well out of the reach of Big Pascal.

Worse still games will get even more demanding in the next 12 months and there is also 4k 144htz on the horizon which will nearly treble what is needed from the GPUs compared to 4k 60htz.

Remember Crossfire and SLI don't scale perfectly, there is always a performance penalty, which gets worse the more GPU's you add.

So if something took 4 current gen GPU's to run at 4K, it may only need 1 or 2 next gen GPU's to equal/outperform it.
