What would you replace SLI 670's with for 4K

Sure, but the problem is when they don't want to settle for less than maximum because of e-peen (i.e. say they're running max) rather than actual noticeable visual differences. E.g. http://international.download.nvidi...-msaa-interactive-comparison-3-8x-vs-off.html

8 fps difference 0 visual difference.

Completely agreed.

Though there are different types of "gamers". Some that don't even play the game, just enjoy walking through the levels looking at the graphics. I imagine those people want to know that all settings, even those they can't see, are turned up to max.

Meanwhile a far larger percentage that play through the game properly, or play games competitively, obviously want max settings for the important stuff (textures, shadows etc) but prefer to turn down AA to 2X to ensure a constant high FPS.

Nothing wrong with either group of gamers, though saying a 980ti can't run games at max settings, 1080P, 60FPS is silly.

Let me mention this. I had to turn the division down to low graphics. No SLI Support. My second graphics card did nothing to help while playing and the second it started snowing. Lag. Would a 970 be better than both my 2GB 670s at 1440? I could get one for like 240 new excluding the division. Which I plan on buying anyway.

A 970 can be problematic at 1440 due to Vram usage. I wouldn't have a 970 for 1440.

From a very casual gamer stand point. If I buy a 980ti will I be disappointed? 8gb of vram would do.. Then no upgrades until I have to start turning stuff down again. Which won't be for a while with a 980ti surely.

980ti is an excellent card for 1440, although it has 6GB not 8GB. If you're happy to dial some settings down in future, then I can see the card lasting you a while.

If you want to upgrade before new cards come out, then I would choose an EVGA 980ti. That way you have the step up program to fall back on if something new comes along within the first 3 months, and the second hand warranty should you decide to sell on before the warranty runs out.

** edit **

I've just realised we already had this conversation one page back!

Dude, just buy the 980ti. You are unhappy with your current set up and the likelihood is that it'll be low to mid end Pascal that drops first. You could be waiting a year for the 980ti replacement.

Get the trigger pulled. If you're underwhelmed then just return under DSR within 14 days. All you'll lose is the return postage.

I impulse buy a lot of stuff. £600 is not what I'd normally drop on a graphics card as you may have noticed. ;)

I'll basket it all up tonight. EVGA good then? I need a case to go with too. My parvum has run out of space and it getting battered daily.

If you are going to spend £600 then you should get a secondhand Titan x and not have to worry about running out of vram, rise of the tomb raider goes over 6gb at 1440p on very high textures already
