what you up to this week then?

Just hoofed the wheel off the Fazer, it'll be back tomorrow night with new rubber on so that'll be going back on tomorrow night.

Then after that... nothing bike related, except a) enjoying having a tyre with a useful amount of tread on it, and b) admiring my BEAUTIFUL NEW HELMET that I'm in love with. Yum.

I've just realised that being that excited about a helmet, plus desperately wanting a Daytona 675 to the point I think I might cry, means I'm probably on the slippery slope to becoming a sportsbike riding power ranger gayboy :(

Helmet maybe. . . but Daytona 675 not a chance, it's the only bike as of late i desperately want to ride and just hoon about on, i want one too :(.

Otherwise: Have van tyres fitted on front, VFR is having muffs fitted tomorrow (look awful yes, but keep me warm so they stay), Try and find someone with a TIG to repair my sports rack for VFR, the trailbike's carb needs fettling and thats about it for now. . .

Forgot to add my plans for the weekend :o

Saturday - Sleep (As much as possible)
Sunday - More sleep (again as much as possible)

Car is due new brake pads all round. Been putting it off for weeks (pads look like they've got a fair bit left) but the noises coming from the wheels makes me think otherwise.

Not too bad though... £40 (inc del) for all corners from brakeparts.co.uk. Should be here tomorrow as well :) That'll at least keep me going until I can get round to sorting out a brake upgrade next year.

edit... Arrived first thing this morning. Top service there!

When I feel better go back to work (hopefully tomorrow!), and need to ebay off all the extra escort bits I have hanging around. Might even give the mondeo a good clean at the weekend before its service on monday, and because it is the only car I have to bufty now as well.

Actually nothing car replated, for once.

The closest i've got it washing the garage floor now the garage is rid of my car, and powerwashing the outside patsh and driveways .

My new(ish) 17" alloys are arriving for my cupra today, so I'll be cramming them into the boot at lunchtime, then the next challenge is finding a safe place to store them over the winter :o

VRS - Fitting a new forge 007p and playing around with spring tension (getting a green and yellow spring with a couple spacers). Was going to clean the throttle body but it's spotless from a quick look.

205 Gti - General tidying up, need to repaint the rear badges. Source some front lower driving lights... still got some engine tweaking to do as well.

Clean both of them as usual, the 205 is filthy from my back lane "test" on Saturday :D

Slapping the garage that fitted a tank pump instead of an inline fuel pump as requested.

Then fitting said pump myself.

1. Await arrival of my new collection of Albert Thurston braces and match them to various shirts and ties in my collection.

I didn't realise anybody born this side of 1920 wore stuff like that.

<edit> Crap, as this is in Motors I best be mentioning something about my car!

I'm currently waiting for a phonecall from my local Skoda dealer to tell me that the parts they need have arrived and my car can go in to have the work done.

I need to check my oil, check the fuel filter after I changed the tank, glue the rubber seal on my new roof down and there was something else which I can't remember I needed to do. I might order some new gaskets to stop the oil leaking and the extrra bits I need to fit the twin carbs. Some extra ponies are calling me.

Excellent, good luck with it. I'd be interested in your thoughts on the difference the boost controller made to on and off boost driving characteristics.

EVC6 now fitted and mapped. Max boost on main map is 1.75 bar! There's a second map at 1.3 bar (Paul says that's in case I let someone else drive it. Right...). As with all such devices, max boost and how fast it is reached is a function of initial throttle position, revs, how fast the pedal is pushed etc. In case 1.75 bar isn't enough (RR day anyone) there's a "Scramble" button which adds 0.2 bar to take it to 1.95 bar.

The bad news is that Paul no longer has access to a rolling road, so we don't know the power. The ECU says it's up about 10-15% at the wheels (as calculated by the ECU) from when it was last mapped at 1.45 bar. At that time it made 389bhp calculated flywheel power on the LSV rolling road. Don't know when I'll be near any rollers though, until Paul finally gets his fitted next January or so.

No obvious leap in power (and I wasn't expecting one) but a quick burst from 70 to 90 in fifth (six gears remember) on a private road seemed to take about 1 to 1.5 seconds. Or it might just have seemed like it. I've not had a chance to play on my private drag strip yet. Might yet a chance on Friday, but it depends on road conditions as I have to brake for the er, roundabout, at the end (my private drag strip has two roundabouts. Yes, that's unusual...:D).
