what you up to this week then?

EVC6 now fitted and mapped. Max boost on main map is 1.75 bar! There's a second map at 1.3 bar (Paul says that's in case I let someone else drive it. Right...). As with all such devices, max boost and how fast it is reached is a function of initial throttle position, revs, how fast the pedal is pushed etc. In case 1.75 bar isn't enough (RR day anyone) there's a "Scramble" button which adds 0.2 bar to take it to 1.95 bar.

The bad news is that Paul no longer has access to a rolling road, so we don't know the power. The ECU says it's up about 10-15% at the wheels (as calculated by the ECU) from when it was last mapped at 1.45 bar. At that time it made 389bhp calculated flywheel power on the LSV rolling road. Don't know when I'll be near any rollers though, until Paul finally gets his fitted next January or so.

No obvious leap in power (and I wasn't expecting one) but a quick burst from 70 to 90 in fifth (six gears remember) on a private road seemed to take about 1 to 1.5 seconds. Or it might just have seemed like it. I've not had a chance to play on my private drag strip yet. Might yet a chance on Friday, but it depends on road conditions as I have to brake for the er, roundabout, at the end (my private drag strip has two roundabouts. Yes, that's unusual...:D).

Holy cow that's a lot of boost ! Standard STi internals? Sounds like you're looking at a good 420bhp. That's got to feel fast. Thanks for taking the time to let me know how it went. I will have to come for a drive with you one day !

Why can't Ebay sellers post things within a reasonable time frame? Sick of not being able to get on with jobs because of people dragging their heels.

Yes, standard internals. If the thing makes 400/400 when I finally get on a reliable RR, then I stop there; if not then RCM tubular headers are next (probably around April next year). The course of mods was based on keeping as much standard as possible: gearbox, engine, etc. Clutch is uprated though - for some reason this car is on its third clutch at 49k miles...:p
