TBH you're best off doing so when a system is being replaced anyway. Its hard to replace something that at least barely works.
Do remember that once you've got it running on Linux someone will be promoted into charge of the system, will demand that it's replaced with Windows mostly because he's unsure of how to pronounce Linux and will be promoted on again once everything is on the floor in a smoking pile of rubble.
