Whats has the future got in store for NVidia?

The problem is when nvidia or and finally have a card to power 4K 60fps high/ultra settings we'll probably have 6-8K screens on the horizon and most people will be back to square one. I've got the upgrade itch but my 780 runs a1440p reasonably well so no point in upgrading to anything right now as I see it. Sure I could get a 980 but if I go 4K it won't be enough.
 
970 owner- Hey Nvidia your cheap cards don't work like you promised. Nvidia- don't worry our most expensive cards will be just fine. Just send us back the faulty card plus £200 quid and we will send something that works.
