Whats in your burger - Post your fave combinations

Archies? The burgers are awful from there *vomit smiley* The milkshakes are awesome though.

I still haven't tried Southern Eleven. It's on my list.

My favourite food at the moment is the sausages from Barbican in Chorlton. One of their big chorizo sausages along with their amazing fried bean/sausage rice. Seriously awesome food.

Perhaps, if i'm honest i've not eaten there i just saw someone on the train with one and it looked really good.

Maybe it was the other milkshake place further down Whitworth street.

Some combination of bacon, blue cheese, BBQ sauce, friend onion, raw onions, onion rings, mature cheddar, more bacon, occasional something like thousand island dressing on the burger and typically only if accompanied by lettuce+tomatoes.

As long as there is nothing disgusting like ketchup it is all good.

More interesting things are good like guacamole, pulled pork, lentil fritters.

Pulled pork is a good shout. Come to think of it, so are the fritters. Had corn fritters in a burger before, as well as a hash brown a la KFC tower burger style.

Man, I'm hungry.

Would you guys suggest making my own burgers or just buying good quality ones?

Sam

If you make yours well they'll be far in advance of any you can buy in the shop.

That said, I've found the garden herb taste the difference ones from sainsburys are actually pretty damn tasty :)

I like making my own on occasion but, if you buy good quality ones from a decent butcher, there's nothing wrong with that at all. At the end of the day, burgers from a decent butcher will be 100% beef and, as long as they've used good beef, there's no difference from making your own.

My personal favourite combination has to be beefburger with bacon and stilton. My mouth's watering just thinking about it :D

And for anyone in the Manchester area - http://almostfamousburgers.com/ I follow these guys on twitter and some of there burgers look insane :D

I came in here to pretty much post their menu :p All of their burgers are incredible but their specials are simply something else. I was away for 4 months over summer & did not have one burger, the first month I was back in Manchester i went 2 or 3 times a week....and they are only open weekends :p

A friend of mine went and were waiting about 90 minutes. They said the burgers were good (fries very spicy) but not really worth the wait.

If you go at the wrong time then you are going to wait a while outside & then maybe inside at the bar, it is a very small place & every night it is open there is always a queue because it is very small and everyone who knows about it in the area is hooked haha. Their cocktails are great as well. Very spicy fries? Well he must have ordered the very spicy fries then :p The fries come seperate so you get a choice. I love the Bacon Bacon fries; mixed potato & sweet potato fries, covered in baconaise & then sprinkled with candied bacon. Their chicken wings are awesome as well. Plus they do a mean hot dog.

Yes I love the place. :D:D:D

Another reccomendation in the Manchester area is http://www.southern11.co.uk/ - Easily the best BBQ food i have had in the UK.

Cannot wait to try this - http://www.southern11.co.uk/files/manchester vs food challange summary chicken tower.pdf :D

I like to think I know most good places to eat in Manchester and I worked in Spinningfields last year but do not know of this place! I'll have to go & check it out.

Oasthouse in Spinningfields do a great burger as well, Shortlist Magazine recently awarded them with Best Gastro Pub of the year. It's an amazing place, mainly made from reclaimed wood, bricks etc. I know some of walls & things came from Wales, Scotland etc.
