Theres probably speculation on this everywhere, but I can't find a recent thread on it it. What do you think they'll change on the iPhone next? When will they do it. I don't expect they'll change much one, just like the iPods over the years.

Firmware version 2.2 which is rumoured for release tomorrow ;)

Tomorrow? That's sound, iTunes servers will crash for 24hours due to all the downloads! :D

Who knows what's next on the iPhone? MMS? Forward text messages? Cut and paste? Better camera?

From what I can tell there's going to be over the air podcast downloads through the app store, emoticons in text messages, the ability to switch off SMS auto-correction, Google Street View and a redesigned Safari window and bug fixes hopefully.

Hopefully there will be a few more that Apple have kept under wraps, the 2.2 betas have been low in features so many developers think there are going to be more features on public release.

I'd hope there would be other improvements, ie speed tweaks (how long text messages take to open).

If it's what has been listed I won't bother updating :)

800x480 res
Slightly thinner
5mp Camera + flash w/ video
MMS
Flash support

That's what they need to do if they want to keep up with the competition.

Same here, everyone is moaning about mms... you only can't send them. Receiving is fine. (You can send them with swirly mms if you are jailbroken).

Flash? Not a great problem. Infact I haven't come across a site I haven't been able to access.

Copy and paste? LOADS of phones don't have this... although I agree it'd be handy.

Landscape keyboard is also possible with 3rd party apps.

Honestly, why do people go on about a better camera :( Phones (no matter how high rating) are rubbish at taking pictures. Fact. If you want good pictures, get a digital camera. A flash would have been nice on the iPhone... but only so it could be used as a torch!

I am sorry, but no they don't.

I used to have a Nokia N95 (still do) and the iphone is a much better phone to use.

Slightly thinner? Show me another phone that has a 3.5" screen that is thinner.
Don't miss the flash or picture quality of the N95, it can do video on the iphone if you jailbreak it and its pretty good.
MMS can be achieve by jailbreaking
Flash, the only thing i agree with, it'll be nice but not essential.

It may be nicer to use but the specs just aren't there.

HTC Touch HD - thinner, larger screen, higher resolution, better camera, video, MMS and flash as standard.

A lot of people will though and you shouldn't have to jailbreak it for basic functionality.

See above.

No, but nice to have.

It's apple and the gui is streets ahead of windows mobile.

I want using my phone to be fun, windows mobile simple fails in this area- it has all the features sure- has done ages before the iPhone but they simply don't give a positive experience.

Yeah i agree. I don't see what the big deal is about having a camera on a phone. I never use a phone to take pictures regardless how many MP it has.

I can't always have my dSLR with me and don't own a compact, I'd rather something better than what they currently offer (regardless of megapixels, 2 would be fine if the image quality was not terrible!).

It's just that most newer sensors with better image quality tend to be a higher resolution as that's what sells.

And wouldn't it be good if you had all those features plus the excellent GUI? Why do you want to compromise?
