Whats next for the iPhone, and when?

What happened to the time when a phone was just a phone?.

Now it seems everyone wants a phone to do everything, it's getting pretty ridiculous.

You will never get a perfect phone, it will always have something missing and someone is going to complain about something.

At the end of the day you buy a phone to make phone calls.

True.

I want my phone to do the following

1 - Make calls
2 - Text
3 - Good music player
4 - Video player
5 - Surf net/Email

I always thought i like a great camera, but no matter how good, my standard of good is SLR so a phone will never get there therefore i really don't care if its 2mb or 10mb. The really nice thing about the iphone that is head and shoulders above all others is the GUI, there is nothing else that is even close.

That's all well and good, but most people don't want to carry a SLR around when out and about. Or even a smaller digital, it's space they don't have and don't want. I don't want to carry a camera around when I could take a good photo with my phone.

As far as I'm concerned the camera is ok, but it could be better.

I use the camera on my phone a lot. I don't always have my other cameras with me. I also use it a lot to take photos of reminders, like something that needs fixing, or buying, or notices and adverts that I want to look at later and don't have pen to take down the details. I use my W810i kinda like a photocopier. Take photo of A4 sheet in Macro mode with autofocus then print it out. Hase been very handy.

That said the iPhones seems camera seems decent for a 2mp no autofocus camera.

800x480 res
Slightly thinner
5mp Camera + flash w/ video
MMS
Flash support

That's what they need to do if they want to keep up with the competition.
They never were infront of the competition. The phone couldn't do simple things on launch.

MMS won't come, Apple "doesn't see the need" apparently, and I just read something about whilst Adobe are authoring Flash for the iphone, it won't ever be approved as it is a competing platform.

why have just a phone when you can have more ?

Well there's nothing wrong with having more, i like having all the extra features in a phone.

It just seems companys just want to shove all the features they can into a phone and it turns out to be a pile of rubbish and very unstable.

I'd rather have a stable working phone than a brick.

Sorry hows flash a competing platform?

Also everyone was well aware of the features that the iphone didnt have on launch, I dont think they tried to do what the competition was doing that was the point wasnt it?

Reckon it will be the Iphone HD next.

800x480
Beefier CPU and graphics
5M Camera
16Gb/32Gb

That would be a nice update TBH.

The screen's already high definition given its size. Don't think they'll change much of the core specs because the common platform between all iPhones and iPod Touches is desirable.

Add removable battery to that list, and make the video recording 30fps, and i'd probably buy one.

Would cost a FORTUNE! But I agree with you it would be a good idea.

iPhone nano I believe is next? - According to T3 Magazine anyway.

T3 thought Apple would release a tablet Mac at the MacWorld this year, but that never happened! So I wouldn't trust them too much! They know about as much as us.

Apple would never add a removable battery, much like the iPod range, spoils the aesthetic etc.

Video recording is a maybe.
