Dg is just trolling as usual and if anyone else wants to know, DG has constantly asked me in steam chat to post the same thing on his forum ( indie/database) for which i have said no, because of the member base and other reasons.
But on topic basicaly what the members have said above ( thanks for that ) are spot on!
The sticky is just that it's a database, it's a database of all the indie games posted on ocuk by either me or someone else. It's also very helpful for anyone on twitter and other forums to scroll through the database for the relevant interests. It has served the forum well for a while now as it's easy to use and to locate the genre of interest for the person viewing the forum. GAME THREAD LINK - GAME TYPE - GENRE
The problem with a single thread is with lots of games to discuss it becomes messy and rather difficult to notify others of updates, i've done it before it does not work. The separate indie/retro threads are as the person above said are created to notify people of the latest releases and people can talk about that release specific to it's own thread. When that thread has run it's course it drops way off the pages but it's always kept in the database for people to refer to also without having people to search. Another great thing with the specific threads is, I or someone else can update it ( NEW VERSION/ PATCH ) e.t.c without affecting the main database and it lets people know that that thread something new has happened.
So basically
It's easier for me and easier for others
Looks neater and the database is a great ref for new members, old members, twitter and other forums.
It's also been stickied since 19th Feb 2012, 12:46, why change what works? it doesn't take anything from the forum if anything i feel it's a great addition. Also regarding
this thread, adding it to this would mean another loophole to get to the database!, it's better to be for all to see when they first visit the forum
