whats the best cod of all time???

UO for me, thats the one that got me sooooo hooked!
Although i really should give the single player more of a look in, not completed CoD4 SP yet and not even started WaW SP!
WaW is not as bad as most make out imo either.

CoD: UO > 4 > 2 > Waw > 3 (simply because it's only made for the consoles ).

I like ww2 a lot more than modern combat, but they failed with WaW.

CoD > 4 > 2 > Waw > 3 (simply because it's only made for the consoles ).
I go with that too (minus UO).

When CoD first came out, it was just so far ahead of any of it's competitors, it was staggering. Playing it now, you just can't get how much of a leap it was over things like MoH. I was blown away (several times, literally) by CoD when it first played it.

im gonna judge this by my hours on xfire.

and winning by a mile is CoD2 MP, probably the best mp game ever
Closely followed by CoD, played this less as i didnt get in on release, sometime halfway between cod1 + 2, so is a close second.

Other than that, only single player games really make an impact, of which cod4 is the best.

the others arnt worth mentioning.

I reckon CoD4 for me, very slick, nice missions, great graphics, great atmosphere.... it's a natural evolution of the earlier games and plays very well.

CoD is fantastic and when viewed in the context of the time it was released is arguably even better, but when judged on merit, it's not quite there. The scripting was a little more obvious and less cinematic, and the use of healthpacks slows the pace a little (backtracking to collect them etc). The earlier games also seemed to overuse minefields from what I remember.

I think they are all very good games and IW are the masters of that intense, cinematic gameplay feel in a FPS. Even games I view as being superior in many areas such as Far Cry have to bow their heads on that front.

Probably COD4. A good story, presentation and fun gameplay did it for me.

The original COD would be a close second though as it added depth that had been missing from other FPS games. I particularly remember a level where you're defending a farm house as the Nazi's advance. You run between the different rooms helping your squad mates - eventually it looks like you're over run when a couple of mustangs fly over the battlefield and destroy the enemy armour forcing them to retreat. It's an eleventh hour reprieve and it felt awesome the first time I saw it...

COD>COD2>all the rest which are pap (yes even 4 which people rave about but I can't stand. If you want to do a modern military FPS don't use the name of a WWII series -find your own name  )

First one, though i have a but of a soft spot for it because its the game that fully dragged be away from consoles and was the first i played competivitley.

Call of Duty 3 by far. A console masterpiece that shames the rest, and a masterclass in how to do an FPS right.

Ok maybe not, I'd go for CoD1.

First one and UO were certainly the best for mp , may just be me but i felt there was a lack of recoil on all the guns after the first and also showing the enemy on the hud when they fire was a step in the wrong direction imo
