whats the best/quietest S939 cooler (air)

I've made my mind up on the Si-120 and Akasa UQ 120mm fan to get me 2.8GHz on a 3700+ :)

I am also looking to buy a good quality low noise solution to keep my Opty temps down on my next build and my short list includeds the setup that The Jet has gone for.

My noob question is: How or where do you fix the Akasa UQ 120mm fan to the Si-120 heatsink?

Thx

PS, I am curently using a 64 Freezer but I am getting between 33 and 39c iddle CPU temps(Opty 146 OC to 2.8) depending on how hot my room gets. Do you think Would I see or hear much of a difference between the two?

I have just replaced my Zalman 9500 with an Si120 and Vantech Stealth fan.
My Opti 170 ran @ 41 idle and 55 load with the Z. Temps are now 34 idle and 44 load with the Si 120. Need I say more?

Matt

Yes, I did tell you the SI-120 was a neat heatsink! but it seems to elude most people's shopping list?.

It does match the A8N-SLI Premium rather well eh! Out of interest which way did you mount it? I decided to have the heatpipes facing the memory, that way the 120mm fan actually overhangs the chipset heatsink rather well!

I previously owned a XP120, although the sinks are different - they use the same mounting method.

You do hear stories that in the past, people have pulled off XP120's with the chip still attatched. I never had this problem, but because the heatsink uses a rentention braket - a lot of pressure is being applied to the outter rim of the IHS and this seems to cause a concave in the IHS which degraded cooling performance a lot for me.

It does look decent, just I seem to prefere the old-school way of mounting a fan to the heatsink that blows air downwards.

Still if you got a well cooled case interior and really wanna go *Passive* that seems to be a good choice (Premium + Si-120 here!)

Just got a big typhoon (coming from a freezer pro) and it's really good. I'ts quite large, and a pain to fit, but it's whisper quiet and very efficient.

I would definately recommend.

That's my boy right there! Si-120 and Akasa UQ. A sight to behold alright.

Just waiting on some slack eBayin' for my Vantec PSU sleeving kit and i'll have temps posted. :)

well i ended up getting the zalman (against my better judgement i must add - peer pressure an all that ;) ) i must admit it looks the part but i am now wishing i had gone with my original plan of the si-120 - think i will buy one anyway & see what the difference is just for fun :D

also the ninja looks even bigger in the pic showing it mounted to the mobo - i really have concerns over the size of that thing ;)
