What's the best Street Fighter game?

id say 3rd strike is the best one as the parry system is just so awesome :)
it may not have as many characters as other Alpha 3 etc but its very very polished,

Excellent, I may have to crash the party.

That said, With regards to "are you as good as your feeble old memory remembers", I have to say, I thought I was fantastic, I'm not any longer. :p So maybe I'm just rusty, But I do what any guy who loses face does. Blame the new pad. :D

Unlucky :( You have missed out on some great additions to the series that brought much more depth to the gameplay. Even more unlucky if you only ever played the home ports (SNES / xbox live etc). Whilst these offer more features, to an old timer beat em up fan like me, nothing beats playing this in the arcades for pure nostalgia/social element.

Sadly the good versions of SF2/Alpha were never released on Xbox, and the collection version does not work through BC :mad:

I played alpha 2 a few time and that was great fun. It's a series I'd like to get into but no one I know enjoys playing it and online is pants for these reaction based games. I played alpha 2 on the Saturn and SFII on the SNES.

Alpha 2 on the saturn is probably the best saturn game ever imo. The Saturn pads were just made for that game!
 
Ordered Street Fighter Alpha Anthology, it comes in two days, I can't wait. Been playing SF2 a lot on 360 but I can't stand the controllers. The biggest thing that bugs me is that you have to press forward twice instead of once as part of the opening command for the Shoryuken punch. Ah well.
 
Joint favourite in my opinion are:

Street Fighter II Turbo/Hyper Fighting
Street Fighter Zero/Alpha 2

I'm not looking forward to Super Street Fighter II turbo HD remix. Man that was tough. I could do all the SF2 varients without losing a round until that bad boy came out (minus the remix part).

I logged on today to the 360 to play briefly and turned it off pronto. I forgot how bad the d-pads on the 360 are tbh. It was a rubbish experience!! I don't understand how people play beat-em ups on the 360 when it clearly has the worst d-pad that I can recall in the last 6-7 years of gaming.
