What's the closest thing you have to a superpower?

I can stay very, very still for extended periods. During videoconferencing, people quite often assume my camera is frozen if I'm not talking.

If I'm up the end of the garden having a midnight smoke, I'll freeze up for a bit and I can hear the mice/ assorted rodents start moving about after a few minutes as they don't know I'm there.

I don't have bad dreams. Ever
When I also it's like I have part of my mind that remsinsa wake and watching. If I start to have a bad dream then that part goes "Nope" and I either wake up or the dream goes in another direction. It's kind of cool actually.
Although that part also mocks me if I dream about really silly stuff. "Flying volcano? Muppet!"

I can also calm my wife with a touch. On the odd occasion she's having bad dreams, she mutters and whimpers in her sleep. I just rub her back and instantly she sighs contentedly. Magic hands.

Ah, but can you be sure that she’s not dreaming that it’s the French guy at # 47 whose hands are on her back?

Thread is quite disappointing TBH. I always find my way back in new towns, know the exact time at any given moment, and spot 13:37 most days (and 23:37 which I prefer). I thought all those were just by-products of being a nerd really. Things being level/square/flat and measurements to .001" and screw thread, I just seemed to pick up once I started in carpentry.

My super power is I detect left-handed people  I can tell when I spend any amount of time near someone even if it's not in person. I'll just click "Ooh they're a lefty" and then it'll be proven somehow. I reckon I get it from being a guitar technician and people holding guitars the wrong way look REALLY wrong to me.

Also I'm really lucky, hence the username. More than once I've needed something and just gone outside for a walk knowing I'll find it - corner desks, spare carpet, floorboards to match my existing ones...

Anti-superpowers (it's important to know so you can defend yourself):

Spreading butter on bread. I just can't get good at it, I've literally had the toast taken off me when helping prep breakfast.

Tying knots. I can learn a new knot for a task, use it 20 times in a day, next day I've just forgotten. Can't do any complex tasks with string or rope.

Rolling cigarettes or other smokables. Again, just can't get the knack despite practise. No amount of prep makes it possible for me to do a decent job.

I do feel like a lot of folk think something is a super power, that are fairly normal things that a lot of people can do

Hmm, that just sounds like you steal things from neighbours?

I can understand that. I'm the same with card games. I once went on holiday with my wife, played gin rummy every day for 2 weeks. Back in the UK for 3 days and she wanted to play again. She literally had to teach me the rules from scratch. Not a single clue remained. Indeed the only ones I can remember are - I kid you not - Snap and Pontoon. Evening else is full on Momento time.

Gah, card games for me too  Thanks for reminding me! I just sit out if there's cards happening now.
