What's the most expensive item you've put in the rubbish?

Oh and I have a horrible feeling all our old pokemon cards got chucked just before the hysteria.

I remember pulling a pot rammed full of them out of my parents burning pile but don't think I moved them far and they probably ended up back in it.

Not mine but works i left a module for a control panel to a high speed industrial door that reads out fault codes in my work trouser pockets and the missis emptied my pockets out to wash and chucked it in the bin

About 300 quid each

In Zurich? It's probably people collecting bottles and cans for the pfand.
No I'm in Newcastle.

in Zurich anything people throw away that they think someone else might want they place outside with a sign saying "gratis"

also you have to buy the bin bags from your kanton so your basically paying a rubbish tax and theres stickers for heavy/bulky items that are basically like stamps, the heavier your item the more stickers you need to place on it.

so it pretty much saves you money to be nice if you don't want the hassle of selling something.

where in this country people would rather take a hammer to it

They didn't fit in the bin but to create space in my shed, last week I threw away a Soundmaster 1202 powered mixing desk that cost over £1000 and two Celestion SR1 speakers plus controller that cost £1200.
They are not the type of things to buy now so I put them on marketplace and said 'free to good home that can prove you are a musician'.
The first person to reply was a friend.
When I think about it I've thrown a lot away.

In Germany it's called Spermüll, but same idea, just put it on the street, and someone will take it. If you have a lot of stuff to get rid of, you can just ask the council to come pick it up.

All sorts in there....once I found a record collection there, nabbed a few decent ones!

A bunch of what I didn't realise were rare Magic The Gathering cards from the first and second series. I was in to it as a kid, but when clearing out my Dad's house after he died I just junked them along with lots of other childhood crap. Turns out Magic The Gathering is still a big thing and I could have got several hundren quid as they were in great condition. Ho hum.

A pair of trainers. They were nearly new but they were a bit scuffed because I wore them once so I threw them away.

I can imagine you walking down the street and seeing a pair of colourful trainers and it triggering you into a fury haha! :p

I can't think of anything truly valuable i've thrown away, but like many others my age probably Pokémon cards I had as a kid somewhere down the line, or another now "collectible" item from my childhood! :)

I'm curious since I see a lot of scavengers roaming around checking peoples bin bags around here.
it's not even a nice place to live so I dunno what they expect to find.
also seems to be theft even if it's someones rubbish bag according to google

but it got me thinking so, whats the most expensive thing you've purposely thrown in the trash?

Not me but when we moved years ago we had emptied the loft and put all our old stuff in one of the bedrooms. One of my cousins offered to take some rubbish to the waste center (carpets, wallpaper, timber etc) but the idiot took everything, including our old stuff:

Tons of 80s and early 90s Lego
Tons of G1 transformers
Most of my Star Wars toys
Commodore 64 + games
All of my brother's old school/college/uni work.

:(

Something similar happened to my father. In the days were you could "tip" the dustman and they'd practically take anything - they were emptying the rubbish from his garage and took our pet Turtle :(

Dad was so upset he went and searched the tip. Theory is they were in demand at the time (early 90s) and it was stolen .... we hope :(

That sucks, and infinitely worse than losing some toys :(

Probably the most recent thing was a Samsung Galaxy S10....threw it in the bin after getting frustrated with android.

Most of the time I just bin stuff that could easily be sold, it's just I CBA with the hassle of selling stuff for less than I earn an hour, so it's not worth my time.

came back from the doctor the other day after being told I had a low post count
Your poor boyfriend (thats how pc understanding / progressive I am)

At least it's probably easier to swallow.

Wow I don't even know why I'm posting this.

My misses buys shoes and clathes and never wears them. Well she use to but I put an end to it. We subscribe to streaming services which are over priced and crap. Most people just burn through money it's ludicrous

When guys feel they have to post WE have done such and such lol, not just you but in general here, it's soo cringy :P
I come here to get away from the old ball n chain and her nagging tbh.
