What's the most fun you've ever had...

Way too many experiences - in fact I don’t buy material presents but experiences or hobby try days etc.

Think some of the best experiences were simply going with the flow and saying yes.

Travelling off the beaten path really made a large difference - expanded my mind. After all experience is what you make it.

We no longer but stuff for each other.
Put money towards holidays and experiences.

Our spending on holidays vs everything else is shifting so much now it's borderline OTT. Especially compared to what the typical person spends on.

This is why I've tried to cut out computer games. Doesn't even enter into it. Even though I spent so many hours playing.
the thing with computer games is they let you do stuff you cant do in real life - or at least versions of things where you get the fun bits without the reality.

if you are absolutely minted, sure you can maybe drive a Ferrari around Brands hatch at break neck speeds to the point where you may actually stack it......... but for most people that is a pipe dream.... but stick on my vr goggles, fire up my racing rig and i get a little taste of it, but without risking life, limb or a bancrupting bill at the end.

also since having a child (he is 7 now) luxury scuba holidays and all inclusive 5* accomadation in exotic islands is totally off the table. my parter and I were fortunate enough to have the money to have the luxury hols OR to have a kid, but not both (and besides our lad does not even like the beach so would be wasted)

so now we have the child we dont get to live the adventure life style any more. not that i am griping, it was our choice and how blessed we were to even have a taste of it! for 10 years or so.

It doesn't stack with me.
I don't enjoy raving sims. Because for me it doesn't feel real. Obviously it doesn't. But it doesn't really give me anything.

We are doing what you did now.
We have Maldives and whale sharks planned after Mexico.
Mexico is in February.
And a more modest Croatia kayak trip and of this month.

Then I'm buying van for April to make UK and Europe doable.

Missed out on all this saving for house etc.
Looking back at Norway was highlight of last year. And when I had my health scare I kept thinking "at least I went to Norway, but I wish I had done x, y, z"

To give another layer, maybe think about two categories, fun involving other people and fun you've had on your own.
Other people would probably be either... first time live-firing a 60mm mortar and hitting the targets bang-on... or playing live at The Astoria, where the whole band was on-point, nothing went wrong and the venue was packed.

Alone - Got to be blasting down the motorway on motorcycles.

Bikes are such a rush. Only been on one like that as a passenger. But damn. It's fear and excitement in equal Measure.

our honeymoon was in mexico, it was amazing and i hope to go back one day. make sure you visit some mayan ruins and swim in some under ground Cenotes. it was either mexico or Hawaii and i have never regretted the choice (tho my mate had her honeymoon in the hotel at the bottom of the water fall on Jurassiac park and got their via helicopter... that must have been something special - the cost of it now is eye watering (and am ignoring recent events).

i have been to the maldives as well.... totally different beast but also fantastic, it was just a smallish atol - i walked around the whole of it in a day - . Absolutely nothing to do just chill out, swim, drink, chill out and look at the fish.... but it was the absolute tropical paradise.

closest i have come to adventure kayaking is a VR kayak game.... by the sounds of it it will do nothing for you, but for me it was fantastic

its almost photo realism tho, and yes i did tie my vr controllers to either end of a mop handle and sit in the lounge with a fan blowing on me :D

Going more than double the national speed limit is a buzz... but the best experience is when you're riding the twisties and perfectly within the flow of things, getting every line perfect.

I had a lot of fun riding a Jet Ski in Crete, I absolutely hammered it to the point I had to slow down because salt water was in my eyes and it was hard to grip onto the handle bars while going that fast.

Unfortunately we don’t have kids - a lot of pain, money and emotions over 10+ years in that side story. You’re lucky and although stressful and hardwork the flipside is worse.

we’re not extravagant either - we only replaced the sofa this year after the old one started falling to bits, same with the cars etc.. same TV since 2009 and I didn’t watch TV for 3 years before I started going out with the Mrs!

In the past I mixed international business development with pleasure so made the most out of it, even if that did have some odd experiences:
* landed in the military coup in the Philippines part way through a week long trip from dubai, qatar, manila, hongkong and back to heathrow.
* had a female security officer cop a feel hand down the front during a search (I was stood on a box at tokyo airport and the mates were cheering and laughing at me).
* flew over the north of india - stunning views. Pune has awesome food.
* casabalanca on business but being taken around off the beaten path - turned a corner only to be face to face with a cow. Great evening in the chill of the Atlantic air coming in to the restaurant table from the beach.
* hawaii big island is just stunning. You get the feeling a little of the bibe with maderia but still big island laid back pace - submarine, helicopter around the island, drove mustang to visit places, massive waterfalls etc.
* japan i’d like to walk some of the trails away from the cities.
* snowboarding in bigwhite canada on fresh powder and off piste in europe.
* getting lost and walking around the south of NY manhattan island.. long walk but better experience than simply Ting it. Finding all the french restaurants etc - the wife is french and so we end up getting better attention.
* driving norschliefe, and walking back from the pub along the NS track during the night.

sorry to hear that mate..... I thoiught we had left it too late and ended up having to have IVF. cost a small fortune, but luckily it worked the 2nd time. my wife had other ideas but i didnt want to try again if it had failed the 2nd time but thankfully it didnt.

and yes i never regretted having him despite being ambivalent about it at the time (which was in itself a progression from most of my life where i said absolutely never and even wanted to get the snip in my 20s)

In terms outright fun it’s probably something mundane rather than exotic holiday or a wild adventure.

Hanging out with friends or my kids, chatting **** and nerding out over something. That’s when I’m most likely to cackle with glee.

Riding a sea-doo water craft at full speed on an open lake was pretty fun! I didn't have sunglasses and my eyes were streaming from the force of the wind, but it was such a blast!

2018 in Mexican jungle with my family.
