Within the rules of the thread, there are 3 types of ‘most fun I’ve ever had’:
(1) Moments of sensational hype / anticipation and expectations being met or exceeded.
For example, after COVID cancelled my plans for a couple of years, I finally got to Dollywood and one of the world’s most renowned roller coasters, Lightning Rod, was actually open (it’s super unreliable basically shut more often than it’s open). I travel all over the place riding theme park rides and had wanted to get on it for years.
It was so good I almost cried on the break run.
(2) Getting totally lost in the moment with a crowd.
Hard to explain, but there is almost nothing better than going to a gig to see a band you love, them playing one of your favourite songs... and you see a total stranger just as into it as you - so you go up to them and scream the lyrics at them and vice vera… then you just rock and mosh out together! You are super connected in those moments, truly sensational.
(3) Emotional moments of reflection (in bemusement or awe… maybe even sadness)
This is sort of a cheat, but when something totally weird or bizarre has happened, that seems so sensational that when telling anyone they would think you were making it up. After that… when you are just vibing by yourself thinking of your adventures.
I have had several moments when travelling… often romantic moments… or other far fetched stories… then the next day I’m heading away from whatever the memory was, on a train, by myself, on a completely new and different adventure just thinking… daymmm!

What all of this has in common:
1) you feel truly alive;
2) none of it can really be ‘engineered’ - the circumstances or people involved, or the lead up of circumstances, just happens outside of your control.
Nevertheless, you’ve got to make sure you’re doing things to allow those good moments to shine through.
P.s. the vast majority of life is extremely monotonous and dull compared to the adventures I’m referring to, it’s a challenge for everyone to get comfy with that.
