What's the most fun you've ever had...

Not sure I can remember having fun or feeling happy. Most peaceful moment ever would have been around 10 years old, sat on a swing in a playground at night time while it was snowing with no one or no noise around, that's how I'd like my last moment to be.

Sounds lovely. Bit creepy for whoever finds you though!

The past few days I've really enjoyed being up a bit early, going into the kitchen, opening the french windows, and just enjoying how quiet and cool it was. Lovely to see the tail of the sunrise as well.

I was on the 7th Heaven part of Blackcombe(?) and Whistler during a massive snow drop, every run was a fresh coating of powder, I'd almost forgotten until you reminded me, that was an awesome day.

Or the time in France we followed some 'skiers' off piste and ended up in real trouble when they parascended off the mountain. When we finally found our way to a clear run back down we could hardly strap our boards back on it was that steep, but the totally virgin powder made for a hell of a run. Sitting outside a bar afterwards and just seeing our 3 trails down the section of mountain was pretty special.
Sounds awesome! Following psraskiers is definitely the kind of stupid thing I can imagine doing!

Climbing the crane on top of Blackfriars Tower in the dead of night when it was still being built. Only 3 people in the world know what that felt like, and I am one of them :p

I mentioned in the Forum Update thread an issue with image heavy threads not going to the next unread but just stopping randomly up the page.

Anyway every time I come into this thread I get greeted with this

2018 in Mexican jungle with my family.

Within the rules of the thread, there are 3 types of ‘most fun I’ve ever had’:

(1) Moments of sensational hype / anticipation and expectations being met or exceeded.

For example, after COVID cancelled my plans for a couple of years, I finally got to Dollywood and one of the world’s most renowned roller coasters, Lightning Rod, was actually open (it’s super unreliable basically shut more often than it’s open). I travel all over the place riding theme park rides and had wanted to get on it for years.

It was so good I almost cried on the break run.

(2) Getting totally lost in the moment with a crowd.

Hard to explain, but there is almost nothing better than going to a gig to see a band you love, them playing one of your favourite songs... and you see a total stranger just as into it as you - so you go up to them and scream the lyrics at them and vice vera… then you just rock and mosh out together! You are super connected in those moments, truly sensational.

(3) Emotional moments of reflection (in bemusement or awe… maybe even sadness)

This is sort of a cheat, but when something totally weird or bizarre has happened, that seems so sensational that when telling anyone they would think you were making it up. After that… when you are just vibing by yourself thinking of your adventures.

I have had several moments when travelling… often romantic moments… or other far fetched stories… then the next day I’m heading away from whatever the memory was, on a train, by myself, on a completely new and different adventure just thinking… daymmm!

******

What all of this has in common:

1) you feel truly alive;
2) none of it can really be ‘engineered’ - the circumstances or people involved, or the lead up of circumstances, just happens outside of your control.

Nevertheless, you’ve got to make sure you’re doing things to allow those good moments to shine through.

P.s. the vast majority of life is extremely monotonous and dull compared to the adventures I’m referring to, it’s a challenge for everyone to get comfy with that.

the reminds me of when I am fortunate enough to go visit my mates at their villa in Majorca. i flake out around midnight but they carry on drinking etc to 3am.

but when I get up at 6 I have the whole place to myself, just chilling out by the pool with a drink and a book and maybe a quick swim. there is no noise from the roads, no building sounds just bliss. damn I wish I was there!

Driving on a track at speed. Not necessarily supercar stuff, I've enjoyed not hatches/quick saloons you can open up more. Done it a few times now and really just got a buzz from driving at speed in a way you cannot responsibly do on public roads. Same goes for go karting, lots of fun and competitive, though not quite as fun as track driving.

Motor racing takes some beating, as do rapid laps of the Nurburgring.

Road trips to, I've done some epic ones, not least our alternative NC500 last year, which took the drivers roads rather than the family in camper van roads and was incredible.

Rented a jet boat on New Orleans and went looking for alligators with an alligator bloke, that was fun then a few months later went to see some crocs in SA, which was fun too. Crocs make alligators look like pussy cats!

LOADs more, can't single out a single event.
