What's wrong with this 530d?

AFAIK all e60s have climate control, it's just not the advanced dual-zone climate control
well then it's just manual air conditioning. climate control doesn't have to be dual-zone, but it automatically adjusts the temperature in the cabin to the one you select.
you can't do this with normal ventilation and an A/C button

Is there more than one version of Sat Nav in the E60/61?

So when people say Professional sat nav, its something different?

IIRC iDrive was updated after 2007(?) which was easier to use, wider screen, had more features and included Google Maps as well as USB connectivity + HDD?

Professional Nav is just the name given to the whole setup is it not?

New iDrive:

Regardless of the fact that its the "wrong" spec, its still a very nice car for the money. I'd not discount it if that is what you are after and the spec is not an issue to you.

Quite right.

Spec snobs win no prizes.

Close. The new idirve you posted is the very very latest E60 unit, although I don't thik that's an E60 as it has a cup holder there and there isn't a cup holder on the E60 there.

There was an incarnation prior to this which had the new screen and stuff, a slightly different looking controller (like the one you've pic'd) but only 2 buttons

The wider screen has always been available and was part of the professional satnav. Business nav had a smaller 5" screen in the same place.

iDrive moved to version 3 in March 2007 but didn't automatically get BMW online or assist which were the Internet browser and car connectivity options, the USB was also still an option and it was still dvd based not hdd. The hdd based iDrive came out in late 2008 and has a higher def screen than the old system with more options.

Pretty sure that all e60s have a knob for setting the temperature, and an "auto" button which adjusts fan speed and temp to maintain that temperature (touching the fan speed knob automatically disables the auto feature).

Mine looks exactly like the one pictured in the link, and it does this.

No.

LCI brought updated iDrive with shortcut buttons and new control system. New HDD based iDrive came over a year later.

No, Pro nav has a wider screen, more functions, Business Nav is the basic nav.
