i live in east london and work in west london, its about 20 or so miles but takes me about an an hour & 15 mins to 1.5 hours usually each way. On a bad day closer to 2 hours or over. If i could get a good job closer to home then i would.
Can't move house, as i own my own house and the cost of selling and buying a new place and the hassle of it, rules it out.

Plus the average house prices in West London compared to East London are much higher. Can you not get a tube or anything? I sometimes work in Elephant and Castle and to get there from Slough (via Paddington - long trip on bakerloo line) doesn't take me as long as you're taking.

Most of the time I work about 5 minutes from home, it really does make the day nicer when you can nip home at lunch etc.
