What's your buttons?

Up - Forward
Down - Back
left n right - Strafe
Shift - Jump
Ctrl - Crouch
Space - Prone
Kpad 0 - Reload
Kpad 1 - Malee/steady rifle (COD2)
Kpad 2 - Nade
Kpad 4 - Smoke nade
Enter - Use
Del - Sprint

Most things are normal, but I hate using Z,X or C and my left hand has to flex a lot to get all the random buttons.

WSAD
Shift- Duck/Crouch
Ctrl- Sprint/Walk etc
Alt- Prone
Space-Jump
E -use
Q/F - lean
Middle mouse button- knife (CS & BF2)
Side mouse buttons- primary/secondary weapons (or some variation), or other useful stuff.

Works well for BF2, using F and the side & middle buttons on my mouse i can draw pretty much any weapon instantly. Have a side buttons bound to primary weapon also makes it easy to change fire modes just by clicking again. Being able to whip a knife out is also handy for emergencies :D

Am I the only one who is so lazy they just use the default configuration? :p
yep same here... only time i make a change is so that i have space and the middle mouse click (i.e. scroll click) as jump.

WASD - movement (can't understand why you'd want to use arrow keys :p)

Depending on game:
E - use (or lean right)
Q - whatever is best suited for game (or lean left)
shift - sprint/run
CTRL - crouch
Z - prone
space - jump
tab - scoreboard, if game has one
R - reload
left mouse - fire
right mouse - zoom/secondary fire
mouse wheel/middle mouse - whatever game uses it for

Lol i have to agree WASD is for noobs :)

im an ARROWMAN with
enter
ctrl
backspace
insert
home
pg up
pg down
del
end
and the mighty SHIFT reload!
not forgtetting NUM0 ! ventrillo push to talk(swear)

+5 button mouse for jumping, zooming, proning and FIRE!!!!!

I have big hands

Arrows and mouse.

Left click - fire
Right Click - grenades
Middle button - use/reload
Left button - Crouch
Right button - Jump
Wheel - Weapon Scroll

Absoutley no hand movement required at all in this setup.

I definitely recommend getting a Zboard. It's soooo much easier to play games.
The buttons are placed around the movement buttons perfectly.

quoted for truth. i made the switch about a year ago, never looked back.

OFc, i have actually messed around with my settings, but the layout ont he zboard is what really makes it worthwhile.

For most games:

TFGH to move
Left mouse = primary
Right mouse = secondary
Middle mouse = use
Wheel = change weapon / zoom level
J = Reload
L = Flashlight
Side mouse = grenade
Space = jump
c = crouch
x = prone

My quakeworld config however is far more complex and uses around 30+ different keys including team messages. TFGH is perfect for movement because you can access so many more keys than WASD or Arrows.

movment ESDF, for the same reason as hangtime. never tried moving that far across the keyboard tho.

Why would anyone want to use arrow keys? :/

Unless you're a lefty of course :)
if you're a lefty, would it not be easier to use the num-pad?

that way you'd have up,down,left,right (either using the actual arrow buttons, or using 5 for down instead of 2) and buttons like 7,9 could be used for lean left/right... crouch as 0... etc...?

Nah, I dunno about everyone else, but my hands feel way too far apart.

really depends on the game but in general... its:

wasd for movement
e - use
x - prone
r - reload
shift - duck
ctrl - walk
side mouse 1 - secondary fire
side mouse 2 - sprint
mouse 1 - fire
mouse 2 - jump
mouse scroll - weapon change
mouse wheel button - melee/defense weapon

all the other buttons not in use are usually weapon change buttons
