They really were properly rubish looking back but I used them happily for ages, I think if memory serves you got a free one with every film developed! That and the micro 110 camera photographed dozens of my school trips and cub camps.

It's amazing what everyone used to use even the high end film SLR's that people have mentioned in this thread seem a world away from the modern digital camera, it's quite amazing we can have pages and pages of people arguing over which is best bettween the latest canon and nikon when clearly both are incredible compared to where we were as little as 10 years ago.

Whilst I've had cameras since I was a kid, I've not really appreciated photography until the last couple of years. I'm gutted that I didn't buy a DSLR until my daughter was one year old, most of my pictures of her during the first year are taken with a Nokia N95!

When I was a kid I had a Kodak 110 film camera, family members had various slrs (zenit, Canon, practica, nikon). I had a Nikon 35mm compact for a while, then an Olympus (I don't recall the model numbers) I think there was also a Ricoh along the way. Then I bought a VHS-C camcorder and used this for ages.

First digital camera (2003) was a 3MP Pentax Optio S, this thing is tiny and I still have it.

Then I bought a Panasonic FZ30 in around 2006 which I used occasionally until 2009. This is when I bought my first DSLR, which would've been a D90 if Jessops had it in stock, instead it was a 500D:

:D First one I traded for the 1D3, then I did the downgrade thing to a 40D/50D but I much prefer the 7D so picked one up again. Then after I bought the 1Ds2 I traded that 7D for a 70-200L IS f2.8. I've recently picked up another really cheap to use as a second body again.
