What's your default keyboard hand positions?

Left hand: ASDF thumb on space
Right hand: JKL;

If my two index fingers are not resting on F and J (the keys with the little bumps on) before I start typing, it just feels weird. Something to do with touch-typing I think.

Never learned to touch type so always wondered what these bumps were for :D

This.

Always home keys (touch typist) but after reading this thread as soon as I need to shift it's always with left pinky and the rest of my fingers on left hand side move over to A S D.

Old habits and all that!

Depends what I'm doing. Typist position with index fingers on F & J at work. At home, at the moment, fingers on 1,2,3,4 as I'm currently playing Grim Dawn :D

How is it the most optimul key? Left shift is closer to WASD. Left Alt for crouch (can't crouch and jump at the same time).

I feel the PC Master Race need purging :P

If we're going down that route then arguably neither is optimal for games needing a lot of key functions, as WASD (and adjacent keys) are so far left. TFGH or similar is more optimal as pinky/ring fingers have more keys available to them.

Left middle finger ("the persuader":D ) on Esc and thumb on space bar, right hand on mouse [Autocad]
Still use the mouse for everything, never bothered to learn the shortcuts really apart from the ones that can't be selected {dimaligned}

This thread made me sit down and think how I actually play!

I use my Index Finger (W) Middle Finger (A) Thumb (D) Ring Finger (Shift) Pinky (Ctrl) now I have never noticed I actually did this until I thought about it but for example in CSGO when jumping is required I use my Thumb (Spacebar) but then if I need to strafe/move my Index Finger moves to (D) Middle Finger (W) Ring finger (A) then pinky for shift/ctrl etc but usually by then without even realising my hand has adjusted again :O
