whats your job ?

Theoretical physics undergrad in my final year, starting a PhD in September. The pay is peanuts compared to what some friends of mine are making working 'real' jobs in finance and such, but I love what I do. I wouldn't want to do anything else. :D

Im an IT Technician at OcUK, been here for 2 and a half years after completing my degree in IT.

Also I run my own mobile disco company and have about £35,000 worth of mobile kit & PA system. I have been doing that for 11 years now.

Regards

Bailey

Some type of Engineer apparently.

Had a brilliant Monday sitting around not being allowed to pressure test or do anything due to company politics and have just taken the company van down to tyre place as it had a puncture.

Some type of Engineering this is :)

Glad to hear it!

I couldn't stick with research - drove me nuts!

(Astrophysics grad)

I couldn't stick with astro either; it was my original course, but I jumped ship a year and a half in. Astro has the potential for tremendous discoveries (not to mention all the pretty pictures), but when it came down to it, I didn't find the work itself so interesting. I'm now in the incredibly fortunate position that I'm able to do work I enjoy with a great group of people in a great place. What more can anyone ask for? :)

On a side note, how many people in here enjoy the job that they do?

I'm a bit bored as it's quite easy, but then I'm trying to accept that pretty much anything I do will be easy.

I like the people, the company pay and reward me well... I feel respected, wanted and have a reasonable future here. There even seems to be scope for me reaching director level.

I may not necessarily "enjoy" the job itself... but the environment definitely makes up for it.

I don't hate being here and I did for the last company I worked for.

That's great :)

Astro was the only bit that interested me at uni.

Quantum = statistics = boring.

There was wayyyy too much electronics for a "physics" course.

It's the prospect of doing research that couldn;t sit well with me though - all that time sitting around, sorting through data... spending my entire life searching for something I may never find.

And the pay isn't good either :(

I still don't like my job, but the company is good and the pay will afford me the toys I want.

I dream of finding something I love to do... part of it is I like variety too - I have a feeling I will get bored with everything I try, after time :(

Well I currently do 2nd line technical support. Have applied for a job to become a Technical Consultant more to do with Server side support so will update in a few weeks hopefully!

I also enjoy my job also it's easy so not much brain power required.

I enjoyed my previous job, this one is ok but a bit dull, new one I start in a couple of weeks is a bit of an unknown so we'll see :)

A levels, so no job.

Planning on doing a degree in Pharmacy next year, got some offers, just need to get the grades...

Also I'm having second thoughts as to am I picking the right career and do I really want to do this?
