Whats your work/doss around level?

I work as fast as I can, because when my jobs list is done I can finish for the day.

Since my pay is not hourly I want to spend as little time at work as possible.

Most of my work involves weekly reports and general issue resolution, so by mid-week (providing I don't get held up) I am usually done.

I am allowed free reign on internet access as long as I meet deadlines, so it's not really in my interest to lounge around all day if I want to keep my job ;)

depends how much i have on, at the moment i haven't got anything urgent so i'm about 50/50 on the doss work ratio however end of this month and whole of next month i'm going to be flat out from 8 to half 4, only stopping for lunch. My work seems to turn up in one huge lump followed by a lull.

i work 9pm-7am, i don't have the option to doss around, i don't talk to anyone outside of breaks (aside from a word or two in passing when i go to get my next lot of work) and i drink in my breaks, i don't use my mobile and i have no access to the internet. What i get done is already more than i'm supposed to get done but still isn't enough owing to a denied staff shortage (and by that i mean we are short of staff and they are telling us that this is not the case).

wish I could doss, I'm a much better dosser than I am a hard worker :p

100% whack - at tescos the same time, because I usually have to be at 100% just to get anything done because everythings so broken and we're understaffed.

Side work - probably do about 10 hours worth of work in 8-9 hours, I have a few tea breaks and fag breaks and such. But it wouldn't be quite as neat.

haha, you can tell who works in a supermarket eh :D, they're all the same :(

Believe me dossing is not fun, it's boring as hell and time goes slowly. unfortunately waiting around is out of my hands and just the nature of the job.

i had a doss job once, it was easy and quite fun and i was able to spend the day chatting with mates (while still getting the job done and done well) but i didn't get on with the manager, that's just how it goes though.

Probably about 50/50 on average. I wish there was more to do as the day would go quicker and I'd learn more as this is a pretty good site to be at.

Ain't that the truth, it's surprising how quickly you run out of things to look at on the net when you have nothing else to do (and you're behind a corporate firewall;))...

I work 90-100%. I'm in retail though, so there's always something to do, whether it is stacking shelves or tilling or helping out customers. I tend to work up a sweat dashing around sorting stuff out, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I only work part-time though.

Fortunately I work for a company that appreciates nobody can work 100% all day. If anyone claims they can, they are simply lying or have an unchallenged job role. :)

Plenty of research has shown that breaks and down-time are absolutely vital to keeping a workforce flowing.

Humans are not machines, we are not simply "working" or "not working" we are beings, and as such we must respect that and adapt our methods and practices to it. One of the most popular techniques for this is The Pomodoro Technique. :)

On the rare occassion that I do a gym shift, the entire time is spent chatting to members and showcasing anyway. Fit Pros supposed to clean but I'll only do that if the floor is dead. On days when I have lots of clients I really don't stop unless I book out an hour to either chase leads or workout. Sometimes I book out sit-on-my-arse time though :p

Short answer, my job doesn't have a set amount to get done in a day :D

Ant

My work fluctuates on a daily basis depending on workload out there, but I reckon if I done just my work and nothing else in the summer I could squeeze and hour or two in at most, and when I work nights I will have 6 hours spare every time to watch a couple of films or so :D

I sometimes get a cup of tea, depends how frantic we are. Usually with so many folks to see I am 100% on while they are in attendance. Can't run behind eats into lunchtime otherwise., so 8.45-1pm and 2-5pm, 100% most days, with paperwork before and after working hours. If someone doesn't turn up, then I either catch up on paperwork, or get a cup of tea.

I think it is part of the reason the job can be quite stressful.
