Whats your worst experience of installing windows

Just took me a good 4 hours to install windows and now im in trying to install amd catalyst control centre annnddddd i cant see the next button great anybody else have the same amount of fun as me?

Select the box and keep pressing tab and enter, until you get the correct option :)

And it would have to be trying to install win 7 onto a broken (new) HDD

Only bad experience i've had installing windows was due to a duff HDD, apart from that its always been plain sailing:)

Recently when I installed windows 8 on my laptop. The laptop originally had Vista so I created another partition and installed XP however when I saw the deal for upgrading Vista to 8 for £25 I deleted the XP partition and vista would not work, using the restore DVD did not work either, and Windows 8 would not install on any partition even if it formatted it. The result was wiping the disk fully which took quite a while.

Got there in the end, and I love Windows 8.

Installed Windows 7 about 5 times onto the same hard drive. I kept going back into the disc installation menu after it restarted for the first time instead of leaving it to continue with the installation.

This thread made me realise how much technology has changed. At least in my own personal perception. 10 years ago I would have read the thread title as intended. Now, my initial thought was of glass windows.

A cynical person would assume I was picking him up on the lack of a capital letter for 'Windows' ;)

3rd party SATA drivers. Still got the floppy drive with that disk in just in case I ever decide to format that PC again.

Windows 7
Disliked my blu ray drive and kept asking for drivers for it to run. Except that didnt work.
Had to tun a dvd rw outside the case (small pc) evrntually got it installled but fro then on mobo splash screen kept freezing.
Updated bios and could not get it stable enough evwr again. Binned mobo

Most recent build was installing using same blu ray drive. Same issue so just went usb install.

My xp experienced were fine just drivers took ages!

Maybe back with 95/98 when not as experienced and drivers were harder to get working.

Windows 98 I think, display was all corrupted due to some issue with my Cirrus Logic gfx card. Started again and had the same issue. And back then installing Windows used to take an age, I can't believe how quick Win8 takes to install, like 5mins or something ridiculous? I didn't actually believe it had installed at first, I was waiting for it to request a reboot and then run though a load of processing. My work laptop takes about as long to boot up and be fully usable as it does to install Win8 on my home desktop, lol :)

Recent one, wanted to reinstall windows starter on a netbook using the factory restore option but I couldnt find a single option to get to the restore menu. I must have tried 50 different combinations of button presses and none did anything. In the end gave up and left Professional on it.

W8, relocating public folder only to discover it broke wmc from activating and the hours of dealing with microsoft and being fobed off that a fix should be possible when escalating the support ticket, then some idiot remotely reinstalling the os and claiming they had fixed it by putting the public folder back to the system drive and in doing so inflated my install by aprox. 20gb.
