When are you going fully electric?

Find a lorry/coach doing 65, slot in behind it and admire the scenery.
And be completely bored, might as well also amputate your legs and arms whilst you're at it. As far as I'm concerned cars are for driving and getting as much fun as you can out if them. No wonder EV's aren't appealing if that's the manner in which they need to be driven. Mights as well get a bus or a train...

It's a conversation about long distance driving - sitting at 75mph in an ICE on a motorway isn't exactly the pinnacle of excitement anyway is it?

Who said they had to be driven that way? I could thrash it at 100mph weaving in and out of all 3 lanes if I wanted to, the same as any petrol or diesel car. I drove my old ICE cars the same way - if I found something big doing around the speed I wanted to drive at (70mph, the legal limit…) then I’d happily use the adaptive cruise and take advantage of the slipstream - it’s not an electric car thing and I’ve no idea why this triggered you so much… :D

So be honest, if you did that with an EV, and there can't be many that you can, give me a realistic mileage figure before you'd have to stop to charge say at an ambient temperature of 5c we're currently experiencing. Would it be, at a guess, less than 200 miles?
I've driven a few but none do anything for me the same as my current car does but still looking..

Most EV’s max out around 100mph due to the speed of the motors - super cars tend to have an additional 2 speed gearbox in the drivetrain so they can go faster, but seeing as the legal limit pretty much everywhere is a lot less than that it would be a needless expense and design for mass produced cars.

I reckon range at that speed would be around 100 miles possibly, as aerodynamic drag increases massively the faster you go, but I’m pulling that figure out of my ass…

I do miss the sound of an ICE car accelerating through the gears, but in every other measure I’d take my EV any day.

This is how I have always drove since 1975, find something doing the speed I'm happy with and stay behind it.
However with this MG4 it's the first time I've had the magic of Cruise Control driving for me.
