When are you going fully electric?

What's the best place to get a decent, longer charging cable for home charging? I need a longer one so that I can park the ID 7 in a better location on the drive :-)

Any on Amazon? I have a few gift cards to use so would be handy if there's a decent brand on there.

Thanks
Are you needing a longer granny lead (i.e with a mains plug), or are you needing to extend from an existing "proper" wall unit?

you solved my problem - I hadn't done so ... had gone outside to clear screen and look at w/kwh and hadn't put foot on brake,
I had expected to be simulating what would happen if I had the vauxhall app for real, and it was warming car up.
Well either you or the app need to active the main battery. Seems neither happened and so the heater didn’t come on…

The Vauxhall app is a POS, connects once in a blue moon if you are lucky. Hopefully you'll have the option to set pre-conditioning from the climate menu within the car. As long as there is enough juice in the battery (or connected to a charger) the car will fire up HV battery and get the car to 21'C for your designated time.

well from the logical POV the app wouldn't have it's foot on the brake - I should have been able to make it so26C by just starting A/C Max. ...
or, they could provide an alert msg that said doing so is useless until you 'start' car, I guess rear screen heater has the same requirement.

Nope, rear screen is 12V like any ICE car.

The app turns on the car in the context of allowing the HV battery power the heater. Why are you confused you sat in a car that you didn’t turn on and wonder why the heater didn’t work ?

I just use the app 5 mins before going to car. Even 18C is enough. There’s no point having preheating if it requires you to go inside the car to turn it on is there. On my born I can set it to turn on heating when the car unlocks. So it’s probably, as said, crappy programming

what is confusing is how you are struggling with adoption of EV use when you been reading about them and sharing ‘learnt experience’ as fact for the last 3 years. Now you have some real user experience you are finally seeing that not all EVs are the same - that’s if you have the ability to read our opinions and experiences and believe them rather than ignoring and defaulting to some YouTube or Google result which seems to have more gravitas with you. Strange

You need to be at ignition 2 to turn the powertrain on. Like most cars..

J Paul. Pope middle.

Tells newbies how evs work. Asked experience ev driver how ev works.

I’d give up now mate.

maybe it works differently to your cupra, but if you get in a car whose heating could be enabled by an app - you expect to be able to warm up w/o pretending to you want to drive away ..
but OK I now understand the interlock they adopted
I've just had a key for the last 30years ... so this new lump of plastic I have to carry in my pocket is a pain ... if I had a new iphone maybe I can use UWB / 4G, not on mokka though - brave new world

I'll see how many miles range warming up the car takes with Saturdays frost - the mokka seems to have a rudimentary energy computer that won't tell me directly.

It doesn't use miles to warm up, it uses electrical energy measured in kWh, and you can then make a crude estimate how many miles they same energy would take you, but they will be different for different times or years/temperature and general weather conditions, so just stick with kWh.

Im confused about the app bit. Its not relevant is it ?. You said earlier you got in and turned heating on and wondered no air coming out. This is nothing to do with the app and people have explained why. Now you have starting talking about the app.

Do you even have the app. It’s a loaner so I doubt you have access to the account?

Well my ipace has a special button for warming cabin after you have got in even if you dont have the key, kids use it all the time. Sorry i meant button on the lower touch screen, you know those really annoying customisable interfaces.

But all that matters on EVs is effeciency right?

Granny cable or to extend a proper 7.5Kw charger cable?
When I was granny charging I had a 10 metre version of this - https://toughleads.co.uk/collection...ucts/ev-extension-lead?variant=19514035929176

if you want a longer Type 2 to Type 2 then this - https://toughleads.co.uk/collection...arging-cable-32a-7-2kw?variant=46528160006466

As in, it engages the big boy battery and actually heats the cabin?

you obviously haven't used a mokka ..,. of course the car uses Kwh - it does not report kwh remaining/used ion any of it's screens ....all you will see is a reduction of range(miles) fromwhich the electrons the warm up took can be estimated.
