When are you going fully electric?

So I dropped the ID 7 off to VW yesterday.

Quick side story - they have me a 74 plate ID 4 and when I got in it, it came up with a windscreen wiper fault :P Are these cars made with slave labour with flat pack instructions or something?

Anyway, I get a call today to say “the good news is that all the faults were software related and have been rectified, you can pick it up when you’re ready”

As a reminder, here is the list:

  1. Windows going down when trying to put them up
  2. 12v battery low - can’t use app
  3. “Not connected to internet”
  4. Windows permanently fogging even with AC on
  5. CarPlay not connecting
  6. Not charging at preferred times (having to change setting each time)
  7. Car not charging at all (recent 21st/22nd Jan)
  8. Keyless entry not working
  9. Windscreen wipers juddering
  10. Brake pedal judder at lower speed, jolting car
  11. Infotainment crashing
  12. HUD crashing
  13. Twisted seatbelt from factory
  14. HUD/front resonates/rattles with music
  15. Trim in boot keeps coming out
  16. Paint bubbling

Now, they did say that the paint bubbling was actually residue, which I’m happy about as it means it’ll stay on original paint. That being said, it didn’t look or feel like that, but I did notice it right at the end of the wash with no time to check it properly.

Seatbelt also sorted.

But I’m sure you can also agree that some of those are surely not software related. I’ll be interested to report back when I get the car back.

I am skeptical but hopeful that everything is sorted.

Good job you got the software update for the boot trim :D

Seriously, that sounds like an absolutely **** show. Lemon car missed QC?

On that list, the biggest things are:

Not charging, brake pedal judder at low speeds (as in, when you’re coming to a stop it begins to vibrate/pulse and then you end up abruptly stopping) and wipers.

I’m really glad I have a second car as I have been caught with only having 20% battery to get to Brighton from Hampshire.

Is it any wonder why VW and Stellantis are struggling when they build cars to a worse level than the Chinese.

Woooah. Hang on a second, my Astra is fine...

...apart from every interior panel rattling, the bumpers being a different shade of white, the black roof being poorly masked with paint bubbles and scouring pad buffer trails, the interior being scratched when delivered, the rear seat belt warning randomly thinking that all three rear seats are occupied and a speaker buzz at certain frequencies.

Aside from that it is perfect :p

In its defence I hadn't set the pre-conditioning this morning and the app actually connected and switched the heating on while I had my coffee. That was a first!
