When Did You Decide PC Gaming Was For You?

I'm not totally sure, but i think it's around the time I got Fallout 3 on PS3 ( around 3-4 years ago for me) and spotted the same game on PC looking absolutely glorious!

When I went round a mates house and played Championship Manager and Red Alert.....I saved up to buy the cheapest PC I could get! Then when I saw some of the mods you could get for Morrowind, I bought a decent gaming PC.

edit- might not have been Red Alert actually, one of the other ones.

When I first played Doom then shortly afterward Doom2 on a friend's PC... I gave up on the Amiga.

Hmm back in 2004 maybe, I was the last convert from consoles out of my friends. Received a student loan and needed a pc as finding a free system to work on at campus was impossible. Everyone was on Steam or Wow.

I do have memories of helping my sister out on the original GTA missions on her win 95 system.

When Half Life 2 came out.

I'd already owned a pc and played games but was more of a consoler, loved my ps2 and gamecube.

When Half Life 2 came out I bought a Radeon 9800 Pro to put in the PC I got from a supermarket, thinking this would result in amazing performance.

Half Life 2 did become more fluid but performance was hampered in other areas which I couldn't get my head round at the time.

I then custom built my own pc and the rest is history.

I had played the original doom and themepark as a kid but never seriously got into gaming until I bought the first Neverwinter Nights. I lost most of my teenage years to that game and I regret nothing. If I could go back and do it all again I would

bought cs 1.6 out of randomness when in a shop when i was 15 (7 years ago)

played it for few weeks and found css was available. went out and bought it.

a pc gamer was born

Because I like to have access to all gaming platforms.

The specific game that made me realize the PC was a viable gaming platform would have been the original Doom I think, that's the first PC game I remember playing.

PCs in the AMD / Intel sense after using Amigas and Various consoles for years, it was probably team fortress classic that pretty much made me bin consoles for good. I own a 360 but it rarely gets used, the only real console I still use is the original XBox which is hacked to run emulators, can't see myself ever getting rid of that.

Only a couple of my friends are PC gamers and everyone agrees you can pretty much say PC has much better graphics but I can go home and fire up Unreal Tournament 99 and find loads of players playing, if I run left for dead on the 360 and wait in a lobby I can be sat there for 20 mins before I even see another player.

I decided after I saw my dad playing wolfenstein and doom. I managed to play a bit of both, but I got more into Quake when it was released. I've been hooked to PC gaming and the FPS genre in general ever since.
