When did you leave home?

A few house threads on GD at the moment. Thought I'd ask how old you were when you moved away from parents. If you did uni, how soon after uni did you leave home?

For me, I went to uni aged 20 and left home proper aged 24. Rented for 4 years then got my house at 28.

I guess I left home when I started my doctorate, so at 21. I don't count living at uni for 30 weeks of the year as "moving out".

Would be interested to hear some of the replies here...

I'm 21 now (22 this month), and it'll be a good couple of years I imagine before I can save enough to move out

28 ... due to working in an area where I couldn't afford to move out and then finally being relocated by the company to somewhere where I could at that time.

Boarding school from 13 count ? Realistically though early 20's I forget exactly when.

21, rented with an ex for 6 months, then rented with a group of mates for about a year and then bought a house with my now wife.

Was at Uni until 22, saved a bit of cash for a few years, then got my own place at 25.

If Uni counts then 18 - 21 was at Uni came back home for about 4months before I found elsewhere - and have been renting out since; 27 in a few days and still renting; no deposit for a house - paying off Uni debts but don't see it as wasting money as I am getting my independance and still living comfortably (so far) - Inheritence in a few years will help me with deposit.

Parents divorced at 14 and i lived with my mom until i was 18, (finish high school at 18 in SA). I then moved in with a friend after getting kicked out. I was around 19. Then my mom moved to UK and i moved in to her house ith my sister and her b/f. I lived in the garage. When she came back a year or so later i moved to uk and have lived by myself ever since (apart from house sharing). But been cooking and doing my own cloth washing since about 15/16.
