When did you leave home?

I went to uni when I was 19.

Then moved back in for 2 years (so from the age of 22-24), then moved out ever since.

Whilst I can understand people's reticence for moving out and just renting, I also can't help but find it a little strange living so long with your parents... certainly without contributing something to them (whether it be towards the bills, or food, but certainly helping with chores and upkeep of the house). I love my independence, and my father and I are like to bulls in one pen at home, so too much of a clash.

I do enjoy the creature comforts that Mummy and Daddy bring! :D However, I now appreciate it on occaision rather than abuse it daily.

It's nice to have your own space that only you are responsible for. You also learn a lot by living away from your parents.

I feel very lucky to have understanding parents - I pay a housekeep, but it's not as much as others that I've heard of. We have an understanding that I'll pay them housekeep, but it'll be low enough so that I can continue to save to buy a house. So I still contribute to my parents, but also can manage my money and continue to save to move out later on.

I'd much rather buy a house and have a mortgage than find a place to rent. It seems backwards to rent out and save. Although I have the luxury of a good relationship with my parents.

i never used to think like this, until i moved out. as much as i love and respect my parents, there is no way i could ever live with them again. independence is epic and worth every penny, be it rent or mortgage. it's a bit of a kick up the arse at first but it is a level UP in life.

18, my dad got a job in Wales when I was about 16. They kept the house up here until I finished school and my mum stayed up then they sold up and moved down properly. Had the option of going with or staying, decided to stay so rented for 2 years then bought a flat age 20.

Can anybody shed some light on why they god kicked out? My parents, well my mum at least doesn't want me to leave lol

My brother moved to Australia 2 years ago so I think she's trying to hold on to me as long as possible, girlfriend is not amused though.

Don't think I'd ever move out if I was single though, living at home means I can afford so much stuff, computer parts, clothes etc...

And not to mention, no washing or ironing, I got things way too good

What happened to the house you bought?

Still living at "home" at 27. Lived there all my life. I bought the house on the right to buy scheme in 2004, but on a 50/50 mortgage with 50% by me and 50% by Mom and Step-Dad, as there was no way I could afford to move out on my own, and the £££ to be made on the property was too tempting to pass up. Now the mortgage is 100% mine as my Mom and Step-Dad have given up their 50% of the house on the understanding they can live there rent free, and we just split the bills 3 ways.

If I sell up this house then wherever I buy they will come with me, so unless I win big, I will live with them for the forseeable future, unless I meet someone and I buy another house in a joint mortgage

16 witht he intentions of going to college...
I went kind of :P majority of the time spent with mates in the pub/club and gigs.

Would I do it differently if I went back?

Not sure, we had great fun :)

I was going to bring that up, but since it's Jay can you really be bothered?

WTF Jay do you have a split personality disorder? I am seriously confused or you just trying to show off? or do we have another forum liar?

Hmmmm.

Why lie on the internet? It's pathetic.

I've bought a house, paid solicitors and all other fees, just waiting for them to put the contract in front of me, so don't have the keys yet, whats so difficult to understand about that? as per the thread, I will be 24 when I move out

Which bit am I supposed to be lying about?
