When did you leave home?

When I was 23.

I moved from my home town of Leicester to live with my new girlfriend in Stratford Upon Avon, I lived with her and two other girls for a short while, then we eventually moved into our own home.

You mentioned in another thread that you own your house outright and you're only 23 but you didn't reply to me... My question was how was that possible - if you don't mind answering?

Yeah I wondered that as well! I asked him too.

Oh, sorry didn't see.

It was largely funded by my divorced parents. Father recently died, his share went to me. I contributed to the purchase of it (cash purchase), and I pay all and every bill. I've been fortunate hat my parents were in a position to do something like that for me.

As for my young age as for when I left home, I was initially kicked out and became homeless for a while. I then got into university (started when I was 16) in a different city. My getting into university was the basis for me and my family getting back onto speaking grounds. Various things have happened (ill health, followed a dream, etc) which have meant my university career has extended somewhat over the 4 year norm...

(man that was hard)

bought first house (2 bed terrace) at about 24/25. just bought our 2nd house now (4 bed detached in village) with wife, dog and baby. nice and quiet! :)

Started my apprenticeship at 17 so I was living on a Naval base from 17 - 20 but most of my belongings were at my parents house. When I finished my apprenticeship I moved in to a room rent in the new area I was working in and now I rent with my GF (am 23 now).

I guess you could say 17.

Sorry to hear about your father, that sounds very difficult :(
You got into uni at 16? Wow you must know your stuff :p

Same as most, 18, when I went to muck about and blow my student loan at Uni. Haven't lived there since then.

I'm still there every Sunday for the Sunday Roast though! Couldn't say no to that!

left home and moved into my girlfriends parents house when I was 21 we saved and bought a house but she turned into a psycho and I moved out, I moved into a caravan and a tent for a while .

I went to uni when I was 19.

Then moved back in for 2 years (so from the age of 22-24), then moved out ever since.

Whilst I can understand people's reticence for moving out and just renting, I also can't help but find it a little strange living so long with your parents... certainly without contributing something to them (whether it be towards the bills, or food, but certainly helping with chores and upkeep of the house). I love my independence, and my father and I are like to bulls in one pen at home, so too much of a clash.

I do enjoy the creature comforts that Mummy and Daddy bring! :D However, I now appreciate it on occaision rather than abuse it daily.

It's nice to have your own space that only you are responsible for. You also learn a lot by living away from your parents.

Left at 16 for the marines.......back at 18........left at 23 to buy house with mrs.
My boss at my last place of work was 43.....and still lived at home!!!
He was minted....no bloody wonder, was such a tight git as well.
