When did you leave home?

I left home when i was 20. January 2011.

Technically.

I was living with my mum in the house that I had lived in since birth. I moved out in January to move in with my dad as his full time carer as he had terminal cancer. He passed away in August 2011, and I have been living alone since then.

Technically my parents house is still my home address, but as i'm on a ship most of the time I guess in every other sense that is my home. Its not brilliant but it's given me a good opportunity to save for a deposit on a property when I buy one.

I will probably be leaving soon to go to university though, so back to living with the parents...... So I wont have my own place until 30 or so it seems...bah

Was kicked out at 16 and have never been back and have had nothing to do with my mother since.

19 I think, started renting with the GF. We've both been living with my rents for the last 18 months to save up for a house deposit and will be moving into our new house within the next fortnight. (Fingers crossed, touch wood!)

Got married at 24 and had our own place lined up for after the honeymoon.
Would have been allot sooner but myself and my wife saved up a deposit and also paid for half of our wedding....so it took a bit longer

Sorry to hear about your father. :( At least you were there for him. :)

When I was 12 my Ma told me as soon as I left school I was out.
I left school on May 22nd & moved into my mates Mk3 Cortina the next day, I wasn't 16 until July 30th.

19 - rents had split and mum decided to move down south with her new hubby. Been renting / studying / working ever since, I don't know if i'd have been able to stay at home and save as living with rents drives me nuts!

Question: a lot of replies are of people who have managed to buy properties in their early twenties, which surprises me.. How did you all manage to get on the ladder so quickly?
