Curious to find out when you lot decide to change your tyres....

Mine are approaching 3mm all round, which is some way above the legal minimum of 1.6mm, however I've read accounts and studies that seem to suggest that wet braking distances start increasing at around 3mm and below.

I don't think I've ever let them get close to the legal limit before replacing personally, but wanted to see what other people thought :)

I changed mine at 3mm. The grip levels below 3mm are very apparent so it makes no sense to keep running them to 1.6mm on a performance car, especially with the current weather.

Though I fitted winter tyres as mine were down to 3mm.

How have those winter tyres been working out this winter? They must have been tat as apart from the last 2 days, i don't think i've seen the daytime temperature less than 9-10 degrees

Changed my fronts a few months back, they were probably around 3mm. But I could definitely notice a lack of grip in the wet around that point.
Changed to a new set of Kumho's and the difference was like night and day.

Once they get to 3mm I start to think "I really must get the tyres changed".

It then depends on the time of year, how close the next service is, etc.

I wouldn't let them get down to 1.6mm though, even if it is the 'legal' limit.

Depends on the time of year, I'll string out a set in the summer but the 530 has 3mm on the rear and 2mm on the front so is due a set soon.
