when ebay goes wrong

I disagree, with the amount of problems people have here on this forum alone it is shocking.

The most up to date info I can find is from 2004, when eBay processed 4.4 million transactions per day. I think the number of complaints we see here is rather insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

I'm a bit confused. If, let's say i put a GTX123 on the bay and the buyer then said it was faulty and decided to file a claim with paypal, would i have to take the card back and refund the buyer - or do i actually get a say in it?

Happened to me a while ago with a HD5850. I always take a photo of the serial number of the item first and video it working in a test rig. Sent the card off to the buyer, who claimed it wouldn't even power on. I asked for video proof to which he didn't do, so I said no worries, send it back and i'll test it, and if it's faulty then i'll refund you no worries. He demanded me to give him £5 to send it back to which I said no, that's not how eBay works, he filed an eBay dispute and they backed me up and forced him to send it back to me. It got back to me, and sure enough it was the same card, however it powered up fine. Fortunately for me I video'd the whole process of un-boxing it and plugging it in and powering it on. I told him this and showed him the video and he didnt really know what to do, and said he wanted a refund. I refused as it was clear the problem was at his end. He filed a PayPal dispute so I sent them over the video and they closed the case in my favour. I returned the card to him at my expensive via a different courier. He left me negative feedback but eBay removed it.

Turns out he was trying to power it on a 250w PSU he had from an old Dell machine in a rig with lots of devices, it was never gonna happen. Idiot Buyer 0 - Me 1

And how many posts do you see stating "made a sale on ebay today - no probs!".

That's because people only post when they have a problem, not when they have a success.

PhillyDee, thats possibly the case. But, its not been three weeks yet and I did not get a failed delivery attempt from the postie. Either way, the item should not have been returned to the sender after one attempt to deliver it. Until i get the tracking number from the seller, I'll remain a bit suspicious.

It is though. I am not saying that it was attempted delivery. Usually I tell the buyer to check their local office, sometimes they forget to post a card.

Royal Mail only ever attempts to post once. Once and thats it. They are not acouriers.

What? All I said was that a lot of people have ebay problems on here, as in OCUK forums. Just search topics with thread titles containing ebay, grab a cup of coffee because you'll need it. Nah I'm kidding but seriously there are a lot. But your reply was very non sequitur and had nothing to do with what I am talking about.

Millions of transactions a day means it's not really something you can disagree with.

Quantify common? You can't.

I disagreed because in my eyes it's common enough and having worked in a business that had daily transactions within ebay I have the right to say so because we had problems then.

I wasn't questioning the validity of how many perfect sales they have, why you think I am is beyond me, maybe you should read my post again because all I said as above is that a shocking (to me) amount of people have problems with sellers/buyers on here alone.

Do you understand?

A couple of threads per week, even multiplied up across every forum in the world, out of what is probably now ten million transactions per day is nothing. You'd need 100,000 problem transactions every day to even get a 1% failure rate. I doubt the actual number is anything like that.

Perspective much?

I would raise a paypal dispute, might help if you have ss of the item page to show they said it woulf fit, and ofc the pics you took of it not fitting.

I once had an item i payed for but never recieved for ages (3-4weeks, uk seller), in the end ebay deleted his account, and i got an email telling me their account had been deleted, but i filed a dispute with paypal, and got my money back.

So that would probably be the best thing to do.
