Does this mean that we will then be able to play our Steam games on the PS3?

Just picking this up from a comment I read on another forum and I'm not quite sure how it would work.

I'm fairly certain you can't, most linux programs don't run on PS3 linux do they, as PS3 is not an x86 system. You need customized programs as far as I know.

Nah. As above, plus the vast, vast majority of games on Steam are, and always will be, Windows only.

To an extent this is true. Steam will be selling compiled x86 code I would have thought. The PS3 will run any code (theoretically) that can be compiled from source. Steam will not give people source, therefore, not a chance ;)

Wouldnt be amazingly hard to get Steam working on YDL, not for the pros anyway (with source). Its the limited access to RAM and CPU resources that would be the main problem. I was able to successfully emulate Duke Nukem 3D and Quake on my PS3 a while back and Ive heard that the latest versions of Yellow Dog utilise the PS3's hardware much better.

Not a chance in hell, especially as Linux on the PS3 has neutered processor and GPU access, and the steam games will not have been optimised for use on such a minuscule amount of RAM.
