When you FIRST saw the internet, what ya think

Was still back in Cape Town in 96, used my dad's work connection, looked for nudey pics and walkthroughs for the old Quest for Glory games :D

I cant remember where I saw internet first but I knew I wanted it.

In late 99' when subscriptions for dial-up were finally disapearing and you could pick up isp cd's from a dozen different shops with all you pay is the phone bill I sneaked one home and installed it and racked up a huge phone bill playing an x-wing game on ms Zone in a clan instead of finishing my coursework in 6th form hehe.

Then I went abroad for my gap year and pretty much didnt see internet for a year and when I came back home my mother had installed AOL ---NOOOOOOO!!!!!

"wow you can play Q2 against other people???? WIN!

or maybe it was doom, I can't remeber, either way it didn't work well on my 486 with windows 3.11!

I thought; "Oooh nice, internet eh?"

"What was i gonna do now?"

"Oh yeah! Nikelodeon website!! - wooo, not much on here, though."

*disconnect*

Little did i know, however, that with that first connection i had a drug implanted into my brain which meant i could never leave for long. :(

Oh, and we always had a free trial of Compuserve, never actually paid them a penny for the service as we got about 10, 30 day trials through the post a month, and you could just switch to the next when you came to the end of one.

The fools! :D

33.6 in, like, 96 or something. Didn't get the 'net for a while, but played a lot of dial up quake with a guy who used to beat me as I always ended up dialling into his PC.

Once we got proper internet access it was boobs ahoy.

Not sure what year it was, but we had just bought a p100 for about £2k :)

naturally as it was pc world (please remove if im not allowed to name this company even when calling them rubbish) it was totally out of date and rubbish, couldn't even run the net.. but we got some more ram and a compuserve cd and we were off.

the standard 2 things were viewed, compuserve chat rooms, and of course porn :D

the net definitely changed my life from then on
