where am i going wrong?

just finished putting my gf's i7 920 together, it has artic 5 thermal compound and an akasa ak 967. just checked the temps in the bios and it said 61 degrees! apparently people have had it down to 35 odd!

any ideas where i might be going wrong?
 
Stupid question: That fan is plugged in and spinning, right?

A mate had a cable tie stuck in his causing it to idle around the 90 mark.
 
I got my keyboard cable caught in the intel hsf, was none the wiser until the computer shut down. No harm done though 'touch wood'
 
Come on OP, I really wanna know what it was you forgot to do!!

I think that it is probably what I said in my previous post tbh... :D

Can't say I've fallen into that one myself, just remembered someone else with an OMG my i7 is too hot thread :p
