Where do you get your suits from?

My Tailor in Singapore. After you've had the choice of fabrics, had it made to your exact measurements, you won't be able to go back. Cost about £300, it's as light as a feather, durable, and possible the most comfortable piece of clothing I own.

edit: It's Leighton's Shop Pte Ltd, in the Far East Shopping Centre, if you're over there. He's completely mad but a great tailor.

Steer clear of Burton, they make plastic suits.

House of fraser for me, normally a good selection of in house cheapies and more expensive off the rack branded jobbies.

i have in the past if ive been in a rush got a cheapy from next or somthing.

i usually buy a jacket and two trousers and they seem to last about 6-7 months before its ruined so i dont normally spend more than £350.

£50 for a suit? Are you serious? Most of my ties cost more than that :p

Same

I've always got mine from Moss Bros - good selection at fairly reasonable prices. I always pick the (normally) expensive suits during the January sale and get a fair bargain.

I absolutley hate cheap suits - its worth saving up for one good suit rather than buying three cheap suits IMO.

Just in case there were any doubters...

He was quite a formidable opponent.

My arms are also a huge length! Got 2 suites, one from Ciro Citerio that I had to have the sleves lengthened on, and then found one in M&S. was under £100 (cant remember exactly) and its got a nice long jacket with really long sleves. Im 6'3" and it fits me fine! Go there. There shirts also come with uber long sleves for us monkey boys too!

Im exactly the same. Got an awesome pinstripe suit, not the cheapy cheapy, but about 130 and excellent. But their shirts arnt great, i have a 16 inch neck so the shirts are 42 inch chest which makes me look like an obese pork pie. I have a 38-39 chest.

Next slim fit and tailored shirts are excellent.

Lol i got my shirt, ties and jacket from primark, and my trousers...

Cost me about 40 but looks very nice and people commented on the smartness so cant be too bad.

Id post some pics, but dont really have any decent one of the suit jacket, and most i have taken the jacket off for... warm that evening..

If i could have chosen a decent one it would have been from Burtons or Riverisland, couldnt afford it to be honest... Some very very nice ones there...

Got mine from M&S which is pretty good. Might get one tailored soon though as it doesn't really suit me (excuse the pun) that much anymore.

i'm same size as that and have had charles thyrwitt slim fit shirts which are a nice fit but i'll try Next too cheers mate

Another point. A lot of people go all out on a suit and look the part apart from one thing, thier shirt and tie. There's nothing worse than a well tailored suit combined with a plastic shirt and tie from Next or somewhere of the sort. A well made shirt is a good investment and when properly taken care of will last you years. My shirtmaker guarantees their custom made shirts for 25 years.

I thoroughly recommend Smyth & Gibson in Belfast. I have shirts from most of the well known shirtmakers around the world who lay claim to making the best shirts but none of them come close to S&G. Their Custom Grade and bespoke made to measure shirts are simply exquisite.

Considering the craftsmanship that goes into them and that it will last you for years as well as looking better than any other shirt you can buy, they are very reasonably priced too.

slater menswear i got three of them around 100 each and they are tailored to fit and look awsome, i buy everything in there, best menswear shop in scotland. they do have branches throughout britain...

100% agree. Got my suit from Slaters and the guy was very helpful in getting me the correct size and the price was excellant.

Why are they not on Jermyn Street ... :o

I have a few Thomas Pink shirts which are nice quality. TM Lewin four for £100 is also nice, but their designs aren't as contemporary or stylish as Pink... but they're pretty good for plain shirts. I always go for something with a herringbone pattern/texture or similar, definitely feels more luxurious and substantial than anything from Next and the like.

TM Lewin for work is great, 4 half decent shirts which you can can be worn every day for £100 is great value. pinks shirts are better but much more expensive.

most of the Bangkok tailors are Indian

aye, i remember when we where in koh samui and my dad went to one of the tailors in the main town and he got two suits, i was only about 10 at the time so dont remember the price but iirc he thought the price for the two suits was actually just a consultation price :D

They're too good for Jermyn Street :)
All of the Jermyn Street shirtmakers have went to the dogs in recent years, concentrating more on firing out shirts in big numbers rather than concentrating on quality. TM Lewin shirts are crap although for £30 it's not so bad. Thomas Pink shirts are a joke though. They're on par with TM Lewin quality yet are 3 times the price. I had to laugh at the pictures on their website. For a so called premium shirtmaker, their promotional photographs were of shirts with poorly matched chevrons which looked as if they had haphazardly been stitched together by a blind 8 year old in an Indian sweatshop.

All of the Jermyn Street makers have really went downhill. I still like Harvie Hudson shirts for their classic style and they are good value at £50 but they come nowhere near Smyth & Gibson shirts for outright luxury and attention to detail.

Interesting, I personally haven't found this to be the case. Are you just judging from the website? My Pinks are a different class to the Lewins, which again are another class above anything from Next and the like. I've only ever bought the slim-fit range.

I'll have to check out your guys though next time I'm buying some shirts. :D
